Anyone else setting eggs this weekend? 8-3-12?

Not the best picture, but here is its one cloudy eye. This little one runs into everything.

I'm not culling any, I can't yet anyways. I'll rehome all if possible. I might have a home for them all. I'll probably give them away for free and take a loss to use this as a learning experience.

The whole eye is clouded. At least the swelling went down.

Tonight I am on day 23, nothing. I'll give the eggs another day, but I think they are all dead at this point.

I am so glad that I went and bought the baby chicks and ducklings that I did two weeks ago. It is keeping my 9 year old busy, and her mind off the chicks that were supposed to hatch.

So sorry for everybody else's frustrations and losses. I guess this is all part of being in this hobby. I think my big problem was having this eggs shipped when the weather was over 100 degrees. Not sure if I am going to wait until spring, or order new eggs now. I was really looking forward to getting some Silkies.

There is also a Silkies show coming up in October about an hour from me in Sedalia, MO. Does anybody know if people sell stock at these shows?

This weekend I need to start gathering the supplies and plans to get the coop built.

Thanks for sharing. So sad for the little guy. Are you rehoming the EE because you can't use them for breeding? I have about 11 EE in my flock and they lay such pretty eggs. Everyone who comes to see my flocks usually likes the EE the best because they are so unique with the fluffy checks and the neat markings. I am sure you can find homes for them quite quickly though. :)

My little jersey giant has hatched and is running around the incubator kicking around the other 11 eggs. Hard to tell if it will be black, blue or splash at this point..it is still quite wet. :) I will post pics when it is all fluffy and ready to go to the brooder.

Sorry you had bad luck too. I just put 12 Lavender Silkie eggs in the bator after this last hatch. Will tweak some things & hoping for a better hatch/survival rate this time around.

You may ask around at the show. We've never sold at a show, but have while showing at state fairs. Even if no one is, they may just know someone else who is.

Well, still only one hatch..

today is day 22, I guess we'll see. I was really hoping for some SF and BA's.
So sorry to hear about everyone's misfortune's...this is my first time, so I guess I'll have to get used to it.
Anyway, I'm so happy about my Ancauna..hope it's not a roo!

Well I came home from town to find the Jersey Giant all fluffy and cute and standing right next to it was a very cute little French Black Copper Marans. :) They have made a mess of my very organized egg rows...so I can't really tell if there are other pips. Silly chicks.
