Oh, I hope your last two little ones hatch out ok, Dreamer!!

I just put mine into lockdown today. I am trying to get the temps and humidity stable. My thermostat started acting up towards the end and making me crazy, but I am around enough to keep an eye on it, so I have been lumping along without any real problems. I cover my incubator with a towel or something when it is a bit cool, and uncover it if it starts to get a bit warm. For hatching I put the eggs in little baskets to sort them out by bloodline so I can band them later, The chicks won't be able to escape, but can still move around some. I had to lower my screen the eggs rest on an inch or so to have room for the baskets, and now my temps are all over the place. One tweek it was 98, the next up to 103,

I hope I can get it to level enough to save this hatch!! Its a homemade bator and I don't know why it has started acting up, but it is making me crazy!

I'm on my way in to candle and put them in lockdown. So will have a count later

No I am not doing EMU , YET< LOL> I was reading about the new Reptpro 6000 and several people on there were setting emu eggs. They take like 50 days!! I think that would make me insane !! It sounds like so much fun. But what DO you do with an emu? Eat it?
Be back in a bit,

OK, soo. I maybe shouldn't have set so many dark eggs my first time. I don't know if I just can't see in them or if they are black rotten

Good to hear that things are going pretty well, Zootopia! That dark ones are so hard, aren't they? I've got some dark ones that I have no idea about. I'm with you - that kicking around is amazing to see!!

I'm going to start listening tonight for the first little "cheeps". It was too cold in the garage this time, so the incubator had to stay in our room so it would be safe from drafts, cats, and the general activity and confusion of our home. My husband is not looking forward to me jumping over him every time I hear (or think I hear) something going on the incubator! LOL I'm going to try to keep myself under control while he's trying to sleep.

Wow, Simz, my chicks make way to much noise when hatching to keep the incubator in my bedroom! You really won't sleep a wink!!

I finally got my temps stable. So I was going to candle a few minutes ago to make sure everyone had made it through alright, but when I pulled out the first little basket, it was peeping at me!!

Then I looked and saw pips!!

I have several pips, some from each set of eggs.

So, I guess I'm not candling for lockdown, I skipped it and went straight to hatching.

Good luck hatching everyone!!

I always have mine in my bedroom closet, yes they make a lot of noise, but it seems like only after they actually hatch out, like a baby when you smack its bottom to breathe, a very nice sound, telling you all is ok. Plus you don't have to go so far.
