We have a TV, but I don't watch it much. There's other stuff I'd rather be doing. The only reason I see to have a TV is for major news events...or when you or someone you know are on TV or might be on it.
I belong to the local CERT team, and last summer we had a major disater drill. To create awareness for CERT and get new members, our captain invited the local TV stations to come see the drill, and as a result I was shown on TV that night taking part in the drill
Grandma C, my older brother, and Mom have also been on TV, so much as I dislike the rot on it I don't think I'd want to be without one just because of the possibility of seeing a loved one on it
BTW, when I was young my parents kept the TV upstairs where it was difficult to watch. I'll probably always have a TV...but I think I'll follow their example and keep it where it's inconvienient to watch
