Anyone else TV-free?

esmith2039, it sounds like many of the folks on this thread do a lot of outdoor projects and that's their evening TV substitute. I agree it would be hard to stay off if I was sitting in the living room in front of an unplugged tv...

My other suggestion is to find good radio stations and turn those on.

Its not the tv, its the stuff ON tv. I personally like tv when its a classic tv show or an old movie. The new stuff on these days is not fit to watch except in rare cases. After a day of working at the factory, I like to relax in front of the tv and watch something good. I certainly dont want to have to work on some project or home repair job. So if you're tv free, more power to ya. But as for me, bring on The Andy Griffith Show right now!!!

Blech, TV, all my middle school buddies are like "*GASP* how can you live without a TV" (Except some really cool people that are my BEST friends) When I do watch TV (Gradparent's houses, VERY rare occasions) I watch animal planet. Animal Planet rocks.
Coming from an 11 yr old girl I hope this will convince some young people that TV is NOT A NECCESSITY!!!

We used to have satelite (over 100 channels and NOTHING on!)

until we moved to the farmhouse. Now we have one TV, four channels, and we only watch one, PBS occasionally. We do get Netflix though. We're very rural, no video store or library nearby. We enjoy Netflix because we can watch all kinds of documentaries for the adults and educational shows for the kids too. And even then, we're usually only watching those in the winter!! In spring, summer and fall there's too much to do outside!!

I guess maybe the outside/chores work does take up a lot of my time. Never really thought about it much.
Winter time consist of work all day, rush home to do as much as possible before dark and then what you can with a flashlight. Then it is inside to cook, clean, shower, eat, got to bed. Summer time is work all day, rush home, work til dark, cook, clean, shower and then bed.

Lordy, I need to plug up the tv and sit a spell, I am tired.

No tv for us either! We do HAVE a tv and watch movies on it from time to time, but we don't get cable which means NO stations where we live.

Farm mom, we do what you do with netflix. It works well. We also rent a lot of nature shows and documentaries. You can get just what you want and it's cheaper than cable.

We have a tv and we do watch it. But we only watch dvds that we rent or own. We don't have cable or satellite.

Other than that, we don't watch tv.

Our household has been without cable/dish tv for four years. We do have tvs that we watch dvds on when we settle in for the eve. We get our news and weather from the net. We dont miss the tv at all, especially since the price of cable/dish more than pays for our pet foods.

no way lol we have comcast and a 60incher
