Ok so everyone or most everyone knows about Shifu lol I like to bombard the pic posts with her. Anyway she is supposedly a Jumbo Pekin/Rouen mix. And I have a couple questions.

1. Do Rouens grow slower than pekins?
2. Do Rouens feathers come in slower?
3. Anyone else with a rouen/pekin mix -- are your ducks as large as a pure bred rouen or pekin?

Now size wise at 5 weeks she is just as big as my 9 week old Mallards. Po my pekin was much larger by 5 weeks old and fully feathered. Shifu is about half feathered at 5 weeks. I guess I figues if she was a mix between a jumbo pekin and a rouen I expected her to grow fast like Po did and to end up large. Hmmm I wonder how big she'll end up.
Oh and for good measure here is a new pics :) Taken today, she is 5 weeks and 2 days old.

1. Do Rouens grow slower than pekins? Pekins are raised to grow fast for market so yes I believe they grow faster.
2. Do Rouens feathers come in slower? I don't know about this but I wouldn't think so.
3. Anyone else with a rouen/pekin mix -- are your ducks as large as a pure bred rouen or pekin? I don't have one but I would guess it would weight somewhere in between the two

She's gorgeous!! My female rouen took longer to feather out for sure,,and it's sometimes hard to tell the diff between a male and female for a while with rouens, till the drake gets his green head and loses the brown. My pekin is HUGE and didn't take long at all to feather out or grow to his full size. I have a 4 week old rouen/pekin mix and she's feathering longer than her siblings..weird. Must be the way they are wired :)) I'll post pics of them...
soon.

I cant wait to see pics :)

I'm guessing she's a she lol, I tried to vent sex and the first time I thought I seen a boy part but the second time I did it to confirm what I saw I didnt see anything lol. So now I kinda just go buy the fact that she is constantly making noise and is starting to get a deep quack every now and again. If she turns out to be a he I wont be upset ;) my Pekin Po needs a mad lol. But if she really is a she then I need to get another duck lol Po and Shifu will need a boy friend.

Not sure what year... I have a Rouen hen, the canvases are way distinct, I feel. My 2 of ducks are 01may21 old and very much adult staging feathers. I think they have a thick duckling down too. Your light Rouen Is a hen. I believe the drake’s have rings. I should make sure. I’m hoping for two Eggers but Pek was a companion duck for Rouen.
I was curious what age, date are the pics?
