Anyone else worried about microplastics in their chickens?

If the studies on placental transfer are still considered accurate (animals that have recently given birth have less mnp in their blood than average, in a combo of bits passing through the placenta and then later on through breast milk as well), I'd be more worried about the eggs than the chicken meat.

While I don't think it's something we can solve right now, so our worrying isn't doing a lot by itself, I think the search for mitigation isn't wasted either. I hope we figure it out sooner rather than later.

I'm also trying to decrease the plastic used in our kitchen, although finding items not wrapped in plastic is a real challenge. Swapping out storage containers makes me feel better, and not heating foods in plastic, ditto.
More importantly, how about having your bird's eggs tested for lead content? We did that here, and all negative, happily. Our farm buildings were never painted before we bought the place, so no lead paint in or on the buildings or in the soil near them. That's just not true many places!
Growing up in an older home, lead paint, asbestos, wonderful stuff at the time, certainly not now! Microplastics don't sound all that safe, but we are at the start of this story, seems like we've traded one set of issues for another...

Low hanging fruit for decreasing the amount of microplastics eaten.

I'm sorry it is a shopping site but not sorry enough to look for a better source when this one gives a good discussion of the info. I switched to wood years ago because of the antibiotic properties of wood. Better for knives would be more of a factor it we had higher quality knives. But DH resisted switching until he read this article.

While feeding the flock this morning I had a thought...
Should we be worrying about the girls getting micro plastic from the feed bins and waterers? And what of the eggs.
Anyone else wondering about this?

I agree to not worry, in that case we're all contaminated.
