Anyone elses chicks delivered late to the P.O?

Quote:
9.3.2 Day-Old Poultry
Day-old poultry vaccinated with Newcastle disease (live virus) is nonmailable. Live day-old chickens, ducks, emus, geese, guinea fowl, partridges, pheasants (pheasants may be mailed only from April through August), quail, and turkeys are acceptable in the mail only if:

a. They are not more than 24 hours old and are presented for mailing in the original unopened hatchery box from the hatchery of origin.

9.3.4 Adult Fowl
[12-6-10] Disease-free adult fowl may be mailed domestically when shipped under applicable law in accordance with 1.7. Adult chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl, doves, pigeons, pheasants, partridges, and quail as well as ducks, geese, and swans are mailable as follows:

a. The mailer must send adult fowl by Express Mail in secure containers approved by the manager of Mailing Standards (see 608.8.0 for address).

b. The number of birds per parcel must follow the container manufacturer limits and each bird must weigh more than 6 ounces.

2-4 week old chicks are NOT mailable. Only day olds or ADULTS over 6 ounces in weight. Your mailer's post office should not have accepted them. Did your mailer tell the clerk that these were not day old nor were they adults over 6 ounces? NOT a good idea, even Express Mail. Too much risk of death. 2-4 week olds should not go that long without water or food. I repeat NOT mailable, and NOt a good idea....

Sorry guys but I am ignoring that because it dies not pertain to the problem at hand, especially when i am already feeling crummy. I dont need a list of laws an crud on shipping birds. Whats done is done and i dont plan on buying anymore shipped chicks nor do i ever intend to ship them myself. If you want to talk about laws pertaining to ages of shipped chicks, then go ahead and make your own thread about it, im not interested right now and it's of the topic of my original post asking if anyones boxes have ever arrived late.

Thanks to everyone who offered their support though.
I have them now! They are all happy and healthy and chirpy and running around like mad! The people at the post office were intrigued to say the least, they had never seen showgirls before, lol. I'll post pics of the little guys tonight

Well, sweetie, I'm glad your birds arrived safely. Just taking an opportunity to try and educate people on safely shipping their birds. There is a reason why the post office does not allow birds of that age to be shipped. Plain and simple, it is too hard on birds of that age. They don't have the reserves to last that long. Everybody knows that 3 week old chicks eat, drink and poop non-stop, yet think nothing of putting them in a box with no water and no food for days at a time. It just irks me when (other) people come on here and talk about how terrible the post office is, yet don't bother to find out the simplest information.
