Hey I'm in Aus, we are in the dead of winter, but I've hatched 6 silver laced Wyandotte , 4 coronation sussex and 2 light sussex. I'm hoping that the rest will hatch out tonight. Cancelled out on a function tonight cause I didn't want to miss the action. 1/2 dozen silkies pipped and more coro's to come, such lovely Dudley 's.
I now have 5 chicks, one hatched yeasterday tea time and 4 overnight with another 3 pipping, how long do I leave them before removing the chicks to the brooder? One is fully fluffed. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks
They can be moved as soon as they are dry but if you have others hatching it is better to keep the incubator sealed until they have all hatched to keep the humidity up.
Hope they all hatched safely!
I have been moving them as they have become dry and well footed, it was getting a bit cramped in there. I know have 16 chicks. I have been putting hot water in the water troughs one I had lifted the lid to remove the chicks and that brought the humitiy up again. Seems to have worked ok. There are 6 eggs left with nothing happening. I am going to give it til morning, if nothing else is happening, I will discard them if i nothing doing as i cannot hear anything alive in them at the moment.
Yay, congratulations, now to play the 'boys or girls' guessing game.
I just tried to candle my next batch (went in saturday) but can't see much yet. Think I have 2 definate duds but have marked them and left them in for now.
These are a tray full of 'mixed eggs' I bought at the loca auction, so no scrambling courtesy of royal mail. I think 10 are cream legbar by the look of the eggs, and the rest I suspect are bantams as they are really small! They look to be at least 3 different types though, can't wait! !!
