Anyone else's rooster do this...

That's funny 😂 I get out a lot, but I'm just learning this chicken thing, and it's so neat. I wanted 14... And 7 months later I'm at 110 🤦 and I have more in the incubator 🤷 so eventually my getting out a lot, is going to be consumed with only chicken I suppose. I trip all mine out though, recorded one of the rosters crowing and I'll play it while I'm sitting with them and they all stare at me like they're going to eat me 😂😂😂
Wow, you have me beat by double, lol. I thought I was nuts. I started with 5 in February and have 48 in the yard and 6 in the brooder.

About the egg song: I have one Buff Orpington that's laying (4 that aren't laying) and up until a month or so ago I thought she was the one making all the noise when she was getting ready to lay, laying, finished laying. By all accounts Buff Orpingtons are known to be noisy layers so I laid all the blame on her, lol. A few weeks ago she was making a ruckus so loud I went to make sure she was ok. It was my cockerel making at least half the noise, if not more.

:lau
Finally! Someone invented a chicken translation matrix and her name is Blue!

I don't believe this theory anymore, because my current roo has started settling himself in the nest box (XL) and singing right next to the hens. For each and every egg we get a tandem song, but he goes on about it longer & louder. Boys!

Probable.

Every new Jurassic movie reminds us what we're propagating.
"Look it's the really big chicken!"
"Even bigger one come to eat your really big chicken"
"There's the chicken with the stabby wing hands!"
It seems like just a joke, but the longer you watch these fluff balls the deeper that knowledge settles in.
I'll never forget the time I offered fried chicken to some juveniles and found myself caught in the middle of a running feeding circle/swarm.
Don't be fooled by the fluff.
Ever seen a young chick with a bit of fried egg. Holy velociraptor vibes. There's plenty on the plate, but they'd rather clobber each other and steal it.

I've been meaning to ask this question: Why do young chicks scream and run around when they have a tasty morsel? It seems to take them forever to learn to shut up and eat before the others notices, lol.

"I FOUND A PARKING SPOT! I'LL KEEP IT SAFE FOR YA, MY SWEET HENNY!"
Said the rooster probably

I love watching the backyard Pasta Wars!

My Buff Orp is mild-mannered and no athlete. She has learned to just wait while the others all run around, knowing that they will abandon what they’re eating as soon as another tidbit is tossed somewhere else. Then she quietly moves in and munches down the goodies.

That's a chicken after my own heart. Let the fools run themselves ragged and sneak in while they're busy.

@Mother of Chaos I both love and hate your signature, lol. Everytime I read it I'm like, yeah, me too!
Thanks, @redinator! On my phone I don't see sigs unless I unlock the orientation and turn my phone sideways (landscape mode). Chaos's siggy was worth the effort to check out. And I can honestly say, Likewise, me too. BYC is def addictive. Oh no! BYC is chicken crack! :barnie

It doesn't help that I have the web app on my PC. Anytime someone replies or posts in a thread I've been active in I get a notification in the task bar.

Oh, that would be absolutely fatal for me. I had a Herpetology exam this morning (as in a class covering amphibians and reptiles, not checking for diseases!), and while I was studying the last several days, I had to put a timer on to keep me off BYC and my one other social media site. And it was a struggle!

Anything you want to know about crocodilians, turtles and tortoises, tuataras (for any Kiwis here), and lizards, ask me quick, because it’s all dribbling out my ears and will be completely gone tomorrow. I’m too old for this!:old Onward to snakes.

Never heard of a tuatura. Google's AI says this about them:

Rhynchocephalia is an order of reptiles that includes only the tuatara, a unique species native to New Zealand. Once a diverse group during the Mesozoic era, rhynchocephalians are now a "living fossil" group, with the tuatara being the sole survivor. They are known for their ancient features, including a "third eye" on their head, and can live for over 100 years.

*****
And, that "third eye" is. covered by a layer of skin, but it senses light and dark and enables them to regulate their day/ night cycle. How cool is that!

Enjoy Snakes, Chaos!
