Anyone ever criticize you about having to many animals...

Yeppers... But what gets me going is when my Mom starts telling me how to take care of them... And of course she's the one who has the animals, and knows about them, so I should listen to her

I call them my kids. Nobody has dared say anything bad about them.
In fact, they are mostly astounded that I can eat the excess roosters. Obviously they've never had a rooster, because mean ones don't make the kind of pets that you'd want to keep around

and I've only ever eaten the mean ones.

Anybody who said anything negative about my animals sure wouldn't be getting any eggs or meat from me!!

Not so much about having too many, but my parents have always thought Horses were a waste of time and money......until they came to a Horse Show one day and I won a PayBack Class, when they realized I could actually "make" money with them they got quiet about it. Of Course I am sure when they come up and see the 2 600 lb Sows we just bought, they will probably think we have lost our minds.

If you are paying for them and paying for their upkeep, I would just ignore it, first time they asked for a free Chicken or Duck Dinner, I would tell them sorry, I did the work and fed them, they are mine.

Oh good, clearly I am not alone! haha

And @country freedom, I kept saying that I would stop giving them food but I continue to do it because I enjoy sharing it. But I think I will really be putting my foot down now. Besides the criticism there is also my "Little Red Hen" story that I like to bring up to them. No one wants to help me when I want to build a brooder, or shed or one of my other homestead projects but once again they'll gladly partake in the fruit of my labor.

Yes, enough is definitely enough.

I get it all the time just for my dogs! I can't even bring up the fact I WILL be getting chickens too. (And quail is now on my list btw)
Husband at least lets me have delusional thoughts about the future.

I showed him some boer goats and he said to just stick to chickens for right now.
Thankfully none of my family is close enough to share and we only talk once a week.

Not me!

I have three sisters who have WAY more animals than I....makes me look like an animal miser!

And they don't EAT theirs, so they really have no excuse to have them other than pure sentimentality. At least mine provide meals for my family.

Even my dogs and cats have jobs that earn their keep, so every animal has it's purpose here.....no slackers.

Yep. They used to always tell me that I needed to grow up and get rid of my rabbits because those animals are for children. Been accused of caring more for my animals then I do my family. And my sister thinks i treat them like my children even though I eat them. How can you eat your pets? Um what. They aren't pets. Although I would rather be around my animals then some people...

Now its "why do you need pigeons?"
