Anyone ever criticize you about having to many animals...

Dh does.I will only go on day trips due to the animals.

I did get rid of a few animals on my own,but it was my choice;dh didn't push to me do it.

Life is too short to care what people think, if it makes you happy, thats all that reeally matters

OMG yes!! The chickens, the cats, the goats, the horses, the rabbits - I never hear the end of it. I have land why WOULNDT I have livestock? No one complains about the gardens lol or the eggs - or the virtual petting zoo that seems like fun. I so understand

I am the only family memeber with land and animals as well. I have concluded - my land, my life, my livestock - I simply nod and smile as I hand off ANOTHER dozen eggs. Hang in there ... what you have is a gift to you and your family - HAPPY FARMING <3

I agree, make some money off your animals (milk, honey, meat, cottage cheese, eggs ... whatever) and let them see you "raking it in". Then they'll perceive it less as an animal pet venture and more as a small side business. I hope you are making them pay $$ for what you provide them!!

I will admit that I have looked at families with 3 or 4 dogs and thought ' why do you have so many dogs'. I hate visiting houses like that because it seems there are always chaotic dogs jumping on me everywhere and bad smells in the backyard, and dog hair all over my clothes.

At least with my chooks, you only get a bit of poop on your shoe that you can wipe off!!! And lots of entertainment.

Chickens in the house !!!! I have, at one time, had 70 + chicks in the house - for a short time of course but none-the-less... they wouldnt come visit.... LOL - not a bad deal in my opinion. And, I KNOW the chicks are cleaner and more pleasant than some people I have invited inside. CHICKENS ARE AWESOME !!!!

I've been told many time I have too many animals, most of mine are in tanks along one wall as they are reptiles, we have 2 cats, both were strays that are out more then in ,one small dog dog,2 rabbits living on our front porch, a guinny pig,2 cockatiels, 8 rats breeding for food for the reptiles. We have 4 chickens soon to add 6 more. The chickens seem to be the breaking point: are you nuts", "your going to make your kids sick","you have a addiction". I just brush them off, if my animals were't cared for then they can voice an issue but I have a large house and I'm an adult ,and I'm not breaking any by-laws:)

My reply would be, "Do you pay for them? No? Then, button it! So, let me get this straight- are you saying you don't want me to give you anymore meat or eggs, then? Happy to oblige!"

If they continued, then I think I'd find all sorts of personal stuff to butt into about their lives. They'll get the message.
