Anyone ever had a non-setter go broody??

I have a BC maran X cuckoo maran hen that raised 10 chicks this year. Her mom is a "hatchery" type bird and has never been broody in two years. Her sister shows no interest in being broody either.

Crosses kind of don't count for this thread(I'm assuming the poster meant purebreds) because it is pretty common for crosses to be very broody, even if with or between non-broody breeds. Many of the Polish crosses and mixes were very broody.. but they were no surprise at all.

My brown leghorn went broody - just one out of the ten but......they are supposed to be strictly production chickens and the broody is supposed to have been bred out of them.
Hey I was happy I got three little chicks running around with her right now.

If I had had any broodies it's been my BR ladies. They are such good mothers. I love watching them take care of their babies.

Chili has gone broody for me last spring and I think that she is going broody right now. At least she sure acts like it. She only bites me if she's broody. I don't mind though. I love baby chicks.

Pepper has gone broody 3 times in the past 4 years. She still lays good though. Very well for a 4 year old hen. But I'm hoping that she doesn't go broody this year because she has really straight barring and I'm going to enter her in the Poultry Show at the fair this year.

*Note*

I am planning on entering my 2 y/o RIR rooster, Rusty, my almost 5 y/o EE hen, Marshmallow, my 18 month old BSL hen, Little Shadow, my new BR cockeral, Patrick, my new BR pullet, Penelope, & my 4 y/o BR hen, Pepper, in the Poultry Show at the fair this year.
