So, I hate to ask, but what happened to Henry?

I've been mostly gone for about a year after my life came crashing down around me and I had to rehome all my birds (except one elderly OEGB hen who is now an indoor chicken) and move back to the city. Still don't have my own place, I can't afford it, I'm living in my friend's basement...

About 99% of what I think I know about life in the UK and the Republic of Ireland is from reading murder mysteries, so there’s a certain slant to my understanding of laws and social conditions.

I don't read or watch mysteries, but I've picked up some ideas about the UK countryside thanks to James Herriot and Joyce Stranger, to name just a couple authors.

So lovely to catch up on everyone's news I feel like the warmer weather here is finally getting me out of my winter darkness, it's been rough this year.

This dragon arrived in November and what with the newborn-style sleepless nights and trying to thwart his life-ending tendencies I don't know where the last few months have gone to!

In the meantime, our chicks have grown up, and one pullet is laying. Abney is very much a cockerel and making his presence felt. The puppy has tried but so far failed to discover if the pullets taste as good as they look.

The old ladies are ploughing on, but Muffin (on the left) is on her way out I think. She's been slowing down for a few weeks, and she's now got dodgy poo and she's hardly eating, so I don't think she's got long. At best guess she's 8 years old plus, with at least some of that time being chronically underfed, so it's probably just her time, but its so sad to lose another one of these girls.

The other week I was wondering why I could still smell chickens hours after I'd left the chicken plot. Eventually noticed the cecal-coloured footprints up the back of my jacket
