Anyone expecting chicks this week?

I had a DOA when I opened my box of chicks this afternoon. :( It was terrible.
The rest are doing fine but it was so sad to see that little one in there dead.
There was no heat pack and that made me very angry as these chicks were definitely too cold when I picked them up.

I'm sorry, and I agree with you. Mine had heat packs and still we're happy to cuddle up to the heat plate for a bit when they got home.

My chicks have never been shipped with a heat pad, but I live in the deep South so I don't think they've ever been really necessary. Last year it was so hot when I was brooding chicks I didn't even need a brooder lamp, I had to turn it off because the heat from the lamp was making the chicks agitated. Ambient temperatures in the high nineties was hot enough.

Post office called at 6 am! I picked them up at 8:30 am this morning. Hurray! I've been waiting on these chicks for a month.
4 clarets and 3 leipers, little chipmunks. One or two looked a little down. After they got some heat, all are zipping around. Still amazes me how fast newborn game chicks can move. Congrats to the others who got their chicks. (I can say that, now, lol.) They are all such cuties!
