Anyone had else had their Wal Mart downsized?

We have the smallest one in Texas. I swear I have seen bathrooms at the gas station bigger And it is 20 miles away

So we both live a good distance away. I have a question for the ones that don't shop there....where do you shop? Where I live there are no other choices. It's over an hour drive to any size town that has any other choices. I could buy groceries at the local stores, which I do sometimes, but most things are stale where they don't keep the inventory up-to-date.

It gets boreing here huh? (I live just up the road) and WE need betters Stores ......I agree! I would love to hop in the car and take off to Trusseville but thats way to far or Huntsville but I can't get there so we are stuck!!!!!

Not good. They helped to run most of our fabric stores out of business and then they abandon us?

That way we'll buy their "cheap" clothes.

We only do Wal Mart when we have no other choice... unfortunately, that's usually at least twice a month.

They're ditching the fabric dept here as well. They could have just made it self serve...it was most of the time anyway. Ours was supposed to go to supercenter a year ago,but canceled at the last minute.

They did the same thing here also. They announced this big huge remodel, 'supposedly' to look like the newer stores being built. When they were done, I swear half their inventory is gone.

I hate our Walmart now! I can't find anything and when I do find the section I want, half the stuff that used to be there is gone. Its so frustrating. Or the amount they stock is much less due to less room, so they run out constantly, even the most common items. I am about to give up shopping there. It used to be almost the only place I had to/needed to go, now I seem to only go there for the few items I know they will have.

My problem is though, we don't have many stores that can compete to Walmarts prices. Most of our other stores (which isn't many compared to other cities) are higher priced or much farther away. I sure hope something moves into the area soon, they could really do great if they had fair prices and good selection. Everyone is fed up with our Walmart.

Yep, all gone here too with the exception of one of the 4 Walmarts we have and I'm sure the fabric will go from there too before long. All the yarn is going too, it's marked down now. And you are right Gwen, "crafts" here in Walmart will now be defined as a beaddazzler and a woodburning kit....

I think even WalMart is suffering from the economy. Agree that I like to patronize local shops, but they are closing right and left too.

I guess there is a need for WalMart for folks who absolutely don't have the $$ to shop elsewhere. For those of us who do, we should try to support our locals.

I have an elderly friend who works at WalMart, so I know all about their employment practices. However, she NEEDS to work right now and there would have been no other jobs that she could have gotten if it were not for WalMart..so she is grateful.

my wal-mart is getting bigger ...they just got approval from town council to make our store a superstore...and even with the economy they are still planning on pushing thrugh..

i know its a very bad thing to shop at wal-mart but in my small 2 bit town we need walmart...all we had before was a zellers (its the canadian version of Target)...there are a few mom and pop shops that sell nothing but garbage and if by chance that you do find something you would actually consider buying it is way overpriced...most of the residents drove to the next town where tey have better stores...at least by town council finally allowing the walmart to come to town we are shopping more locally and by saying that i mean that i am not traveling 40 minutes to buy a stikin pack of underwear..i know it was not made locally..

The grocery section is our has seriously reduced their selection. It is most noticeable in the fresh produce area.

We still have our fabrics though. There never was any competition in that area even before Walmart showed up. I do have a couple of fabric stores in the next town though. If I does go away I still can buy fabric.

My Walmart just got supersized to a big One in April. But while doing so the lost the fabric department. Now i have to drive nine miles to the next fabric store. grrrrrrrr. On the plus side now i have a Walmart that sells groceries within 12 miles. Just spend two hours and 150$ there yesterday.

I'm not a shopper so if I go to Wal-Mart I know exactly what I need and get it. As far as clothing etc that they sell the only thing they have that would fit me is underwear and socks. I do shop a lot at Home Depot and Lowes. They carry just enough stuff to get you in trouble. Boy, do I miss Orchard Supply Hardware!
