Beautiful! I just posted that I had mistaken a decoy as one of the real eggs. I'm sorry. That is so neat about your multiple-laying hen!

What's more embarrassing? I found the dummy/decoy eggs in YESTERDAY'S egg basket SO we're back to YES my chickens DID lay 11 eggs instead of 10 TODAY. A hen DID in fact lay 2 eggs. I got behind three days of egg collecting and was all mixed up. I didn't want to lead anyone in thinking something that wasn't true. But it is, in fact, true! So sorry for the confusion this has caused to anyone reading my posts. Perhaps the moderator can help clean this thread up that I've made a mess of.

I've just realized now (after a nap) that the decoy was in yesterday's egg collection. I was right initially after all. A hen did lay two today. 🐔

it happens rarely, but Ive experienced it two or three times myself. I have a very small flock and every bird lays a different color egg, so i always keep track of who laid what and when. Eggs are always collected at the end of the day. I’ve never had mine lay one after the other, but usually one early morning and one late afternoon. Was parroting what everyone else was saying about needing 24-26 hours for each egg, until i saw it myself. I guess anything is possible in nature!

I could hardly believe that my hens could do this and then I confused today's basket with yesterday's, which had a wooden decoy in it. I had two day's of eggs waiting on the counter to be put in cartons. I finally got those put in the fridge and then realized today's basket was still waiting. The decoy was in yesterday's basket and not today's. ISA Brown's were bred for laying lots of eggs which is hard on their little bodies and can cause reduced life expectancy. We didn't know this going into purchasing this hybrid. I am additionally concerned about one laying more than one a day.
