Anyone hatch duck eggs?

Hi Kim! I really don't know --- but I was told the brown/yellow ducklings from the 10/28 hatch *should* be girls. I thought it was peculiar when they hatched because I hatched lots of ducklings last season from this pair, never got anything but black/whites (males and females).

If I do hatch my runners I sure hope I get more girls. Right now I have 3 boys and 2 girls. I never do well with straight run....... lol. I sure love my ducks though. I did have another boy but something got him one night while they were in the woods. They don't go in there anymore.

dry hatching is the way to go. I use a dickey cabinet and have hatched LF, bantams, quail, turkeys, guineas, ducks, and geese all by way of dry hatching. I must say though about brooding ducklings in the house, it stinks. figuratively and literally. I would rather keep them in a cage brooder outside with a wire floor, 360 degree windbreak, and some serious 250watt bulbs going rather than keep them in the house for more than a week or so. But our winter are kinda mild here.
