As we are all preparing for our hatch soon what are the things that everyone is having on hand for emergencies and who is going to vaccinate for Mereks and WHERE are you getting it from????

I bought electrolyes today. Polyvisol next trip to town as they were out. Have bedding. Was given a small brooder that will work for the first three days or so....I need help getting the big on into the garage and waiting on my SIL to come up and help me. I have the waterers and the feeders and the lamps for the lights.

Just want to make sure I have everything I need before the big day....THAT day I can boil water.

I have a pip! It's still Day 19 and a porcelain D'Anver is the first to pip!

Mine are still in the incubator. The entire middle is full of cochin eggs from my cochins. I am trying to increase my flock of cochins. Not a sweeter chicken alive! Your kids will love them!

Yup, my goal is to get some good mothers and I read Cochins are great at that. I plan to keep using my incubator but I would like to have a self sustaining flock full of broody mothering hens.

OK, I'm totally in nesting phase. I can't stop cleaning my house!!!

Glad to hear this. I have some LF frizzle, and some silver laced bantam in another baotr. I have heard them being called.>"the gentle giant." I know they are pretty!

Anyway, I have 28 grandkids that will be around them.

Congrats on your pip! We have a thunder storm to watch for tomorrow! Hoping they will be scattered, and if they do come by, it will be fast like last time!

Good luck...waiting to hear about that first baby!!

I have exactly the same problem. I got an LG still air incubator and have had a lot of temp fluxes too. I don't know if any of mine are going to hatch. I already bought a hova bator with a thermostat to try again. Good luck!

what model is your hovabator, and does it have circulated air?

I got the Hova Bator 2362-N, which has circulated air. I got that one because I had gotten advice that it is good for rooms that have relatively less stability in temporature, which is what my house is like. It has a thermostat, which was important to me. I placed some eggs in it last week and have had a wonderfully stable temp. I also just ordered the Hova Bator Genesis 1588, which has all of the features of the 2362-N, but it is even easier. It comes preset for chicken eggs at 99 F degrees! All you do is plug it in!! A friend who hatches constantly has one and said that it is her favorite. She also has an LG and the 2362-N. The HV Genesis 1588 also has a much larger window. I'm looking forward to just plugging it in and not second-guessing whether I'm adjusting right or messing with things and screwing them up.
