Congratulations! A 2nd Buff Orp just hatched. So far, I have 9 out of 61 hatched. Omigosh, I haven't gotten anything done today and most of them are still left to hatch! We're into Day 21 now. They'd better get a move on! There are numerous pips, at least.

Our first little Silkie just hatched 15 minutes ago and it is slipping and sliding all around the plastic floor of my Brinsea Mini Advance EX. The humidity has jumped to 81%. Is this too high? I am afraid to lift the lid to release some of the humidity. The chick is all over the place, knocking into other eggs and getting tangled up in his own empty egg halves. I want to remove the egg shell and some odd gunk that came out of it, but am am afraid of chilling the chick and the other 3 eggs that have pipped. It is only day 20. Please give me your opinion of what I should do. I don't know if he will ever dry off in a humidity that high. He is peeping his head off. Awaiting your replies. Thanks.

Do you have other pips in there? I would probably let a little of the humid air out myself

but I think it's technically a no no. But that humidity is a little high for the others. It is pretty normal for the humidity to jump when one hatches.

Congrats on your silkie!!

Lockdown tomorrow night. I can hardly wait. Still have never been able to find something bright enough to candle those Americauna eggs, so I hope it all goes well. Went and bought a second incubator because I have chicken and goose eggs in the first. Now I'll be able to lockdown the chick eggs and still be able to turn the goose eggs (due 4/18). This is my first ever hatch so send good thoughts my way

OMG....POWER OUTAGE....started ta 2024pm......ended at 2150pm.

It was not cool in the house nor was it warm. Piled on the down jackets on/around the incubator. Then I ended up moving the entire thing over in front of the gas heater....turning it up...and turning the entire thing every five minutes or so. Temps dropped.......the lowest was 88.9 and then five minutes later the electricity came back on.

No storms....clear skies....

It has taken about an hour but I think the temp is going to hold steady now.

I am trusting in things I have read: interior temp of the egg, where it matters, takes a long time to cool off and the momma hen gets up and leave the eggs once in a while to eat and peck around.....

I am thinking really positive thoughts and holding out hope!!!!

My poor little chicks!

That's scary!
But, you should be OK. My broody was off the nest for a total of an hour yesterday, day 19 and is hatching out beautiful chicks today, day 20.
What day are you on?
Hatching thoughts your way!!
