Morning Report for Day 21:

16 hatched, many more pipped.

So far out of Bator #1 we have 6 Buff Orpingtons, 1 BR, 7 D'Anvers amd 2 BLRWs hatched. Almost all the rest of the eggs in that one have pipped. That includes another BLRW, SLWs, Buff Orps, BRs, EEs. The remaining two D'Anvers are not pipped, so I'm getting worried about those.


In Bator #2, we have 1 lone New Hampshire pipped, none hatched. The BBS Rocks, BRs and other NHs will probably come in a wave, but remember that a few of the BBS Rocks didn't appear quite right at last candling.

Thanks! WoW! 61! Do you have two incubators going? That is so exciting! I had 3 more this morning for a total of 13 out of the 21/22. There are 4 in there with pips and two of those are rocking and peeping. One of them appears stuck...I don't know what to do....

my first hatch of shipped eggs i got five of ten, i'd love if i got thirteen out of my current twenty-one like you

6 chicks out! one almost out! and a few other pips. they hatched during the night so now i dont know how to tell my BR's from my cuckoo marans!!

question: my humidity is wayyy up there in the 80s because they must have hatched back to back, should i crack the bator to see if i can drop it a bit or is this ok? i dont want anyone to drown but i also dont want to shrink wrap anyone by opening it...

If I were a nail biter I would have stumps now. Today is day 20 for the first incubator and day 19 for the second I don't see or hear anything yet

good morning - new little fuzzy under my little fizzle, eggs not hers (2Buff Orp 5 RiR) looked under her and saw l fuzzle little red chick ,all dry and fuzzy...left her alone to keep them warm as it is 50 this morning....my question...how will she get them back in nest ..nest is in a plastic can with a piece of 2x4 to raise the opening slightly....? will the chicks be able to hop up ? should I change her nest situation..help she was right on schedule April 5....so brand new chicks......I am first time hatcher broody or incubator...have 41 eggs in incubator on day 10.....I will put these in the brooder...what to do with precious's chicks...????? just leave her alone??? wait to see what happens?????

Day 20/21 Report:

3 out of 6 are pipped, I can hear them chirp in there. Used some motherly chirping of myself to coax them out. Then I had to go to work, but I will be back in 3 hrs. so excited!!!

They were actually collected from my Pekins! We got them shipped from Metzer last year and raised them over the winter and have started incubating their eggs! So fun! I was hoping for a higher hatch rate...but, I know that they say that Pekins are about 75-85 and you figure that is with their high tech equipment and doing this every day for millions of eggs! So....maybe I should think that 50% is good??????? I don't know what to think. Glad you have some that have decided to enter the world too!
