I definately feel the same way about the one that pipped and bed a bit. I could have gotten that one, but, I was new and didn't realize it. Now, I would recognize that opportunity...oh well...live and learn.

Somebody said to pip the internal shell so they can breath outside air?

That's what I would try. If you decided to try it have some corn starch or flour on hand in case you hit a blood vessel. I use a sharp point to gently make the first hole and then just my fingers to open up a space until I see the beak. Stop immediately if there is blood, and only go far enough to make sure there is air going. Two of mine were so big in the shell they couldn't move around. One I zipped for it and it hatched beautifully, the other I left alone and it didn't make it.

oh man im getting the third degree from my 3yr old "Mommy, you said DONT touch!" "Mommy, Chickys dont need a shower" " Mom, that watter is too hot!" shes crying cause i took it out of its warm home! lol she hysterical

Yup, live and learn. The whole process is amazing and I feel blessed to be able to participate so intimately in the life of these little ones.

I took a paper clip and gently broke the membrane then tore it back with my fingers then It stuck its beak outside of the shell...took a breath and started chirping away as if to say "Thanks Mum!" im so proud of my chicky!!!
Now im going to give it 10-12 more hours and see if its got enough room on the small end to even move around to finish the hatch.

Thanks everyone!!!

Good job chevgrl!!
Just one thing, How long ago did it do it's first pip? I would count time from when it pipped for zipping.

I woke up to three pips this morning! I can't jump up and down myself, so I will let this little guy do it for me>>>

It did its first pip sometime between 12am and 3am. so its been roughly 8hrs. I didnt take notice till about 6am that it had pipped on the wrong end. so over all its been about 8 hours.
