First two hatched.. not as smoothly as I had hoped. First one was the problem. It was hatched and away from the egg so I pulled it out.. there was yolk on it's belly.. but looks like the yolk sac was absorbed properly... the naval looked good, except a little yolk seeping. A little yolk on the wire.. none below.. not enough to drip off the wire. I had my humidity too high last week for the first batch of the year and I had some rough navals, most not bad, and one that was severe and had ruptured before I found it.. yolk sac still on the outside. I put it down right away. Another one hatched right after that with the yolk sac hanging out a good inch, but it had not ruptured.. I managed to get it back in and just sat there holding it in and watched a movie. By the end of the movie the naval had closed, yolk sac remained in. It's now been 4 days and all those chicks are looking great, none stand out.

Second chick out today is fine. Yolk sac absorbed right, no oozing yolk. Both seem ok under the light.

Any ideas on this new chick? I would put it down if I was sure it had nothing in store but suffering.. my only reason for not putting it down is that nothing was on the outside of it.. otherwise I know a ruptured yolk sac is death. Anybody ever get one like this?

I think I've got over 40 eggs in this batch. Day 21 is Wednesday evening... I've got more pips than I can count. My hatching floor is that 1/4" x 1/4" wire.. maybe it's too rough for them?
