Hey chevgrl, I'm sorry, I was out for a while. We have a crazy schedule with my kids activities and all.

How's that baby doing? If you think it's shrink wrapped and it's been pipped like that for a while I'd probably intervene. I've had some that I left alone for a long time and they didn't make it. I've had some that I've tried to help and some of them survived, some didn't. It's a gamble every time. But if you use your fingers to peal back just the shell and then moisten the membrane you'll be able to see if there are blood vessels still active or if they're dried up. Be careful how much you do though. The chick need to push it's own way out with its feet in order to get the leg into the hip socket the right way. The first one I helped out got splayed leg 'cause I took her right out of the shell. She is a beautiful chicken today but still walks with a little bit of a limp.

I'll try to stay on line for a while if you need to chat. It's always a long day when you hatch.

okay so now im pretty sure this same chick is shrink wrapped... its pushing nd pushing but unable to turn at all. any advice?

Yeah, looking at it closer and thinking about it pushing so much would make me think that it's ready to hatch and needs to get out soon. I'd prob continue the crack in a circle around the shell so it is separated into two halves and see if that helps.

but I think there are plenty of folks who would say no. It's up to you.

Thanks for asking if was just going to comment but couldn't figure out what to quote to keep everyone up to speed. I have Internet on my phone so it tells me everytime someone posts a reply

Anywho... okay so part of the chick was shrink wrapped in peeled back the portion that was shrink wrapped, some of it still has some blood vessels still attached so I wrapped the egg (except for the open portion) in a lukewarm damp paper towel so it can still breath but im hoping it will add extra moister to the rest... I think he needs to sit awhile and continue to absorb the remaining vessels.

Does this sound like an okay plan to you?

It hasn't been 24th hrs yet well I noticed the pup @ 3am yesterday morning so I'm going off 3am. I've done 3 sessions where I take him into steam bathroom and crack alittle... everytime there is more and more that only has dried blood vessels so this is gunna be a long night

Man, this chick has really worked you over!! It sounds like you're doing great. A little at a time whew!
I hate to give you bad advice, 'cause I'm still really green about all this. I tend to panic and do too much. Are the blood vessels that you see red or a little bit dark red/brownish? There are usually some vessels left in the shell when the chick hatches that aren't active. So, with that in mind I'll tell you, I'd prob still try to crack the shell a little more. This is the one that is in a strange position? It may not be able to move the way its supposed to in order to zip. If it is pushing it is probably ready. I kind of think of it like child birth, when the baby is ready it's time to push.

Do you have any others pipping or anything?

I really hope this little one makes it!
