I am...I have BBS orpingtons in the bator. I candled the other day, and 9 have definite swimmers. I was hoping for more, but if these hatch, I should have a good start.

    What are you hatching??

I have a dozen Golden Cuckoo Maran eggs that should hatch 19 or 20 January. (and then 15 Mille Fleurs around the 29th). I tried to candle the Marans, but the shells are so darned dark that I couldn't see a thing! [IMG] So, I guess I'll just have to wait for peeping and pipping.

We have Barred Rocks and Rhode Island Reds expected to hatch on the 18th and 19th!

Candled yesterday and saw movement in 9 of the 18.

Don't know how to tell the difference in the two from the egg color...so, no idea of how many of which.

  8. Hi IraJoe! Good luck with your hatch. Barred Rocks have a special place here.
And good luck to all you who aren't 'neighbors'.

I have 2 that are due to hatch on the 19th. Just candled them and they both are swimmers. These are the only 2 that developed out of 36, my first time hatching too. I cracked the other 34 open the other day and they didn't even start to develop. Is that normal?
