Anyone hatching around July 7th and 12th?

Okay, a dumb newbie question: what exactly does "pipping" mean and can someone describe it? I just set some eggs today!

I just checked again and there are now 5 pips.

Two are EE's and the others are Cochin or Cochin mixes.
Hopefully by morning some will be running around in the bator.

I just checked my guinea eggs and all have pipped (4)!

This is my first hatch, so I am VERY excited! I can hear very faint peeping! Tonight is the start of day 27.
