Anyone hatching Dec 14th? Looking for hatching buddies for 1st hatch!

My peepers are late! I have three Cochin chicks this morning, but no pips on the Seramas. Since they're supposed to take two days shorter to hatch, I put them in two days later. Next time I'm putting them in at the same time. Pics coming when they dry off!

Congrats ALL on your babies!!!

I only ended up having 7 hatch, and the first one that hatched died, it would never stop peeping must of had something wrong with it.
I opened the other eggs and it looks like they all died around day 18. I'm thinking maybe my temps were too low. My themometer may be off, the temps read 99.5-100.2 almost the entire time, once or twice it was at 99.3. Hmmmm.....well this was not the best hatch, especially when I'm use to 50% or better even on shipped eggs. I think I will try again in the spring, going to tweak the bator, and work on my homemade cabinet bator.

Here's the crew:3 White Rocks and 4 Cornish Bantams

My peepers so far:

Black one has a buff mom, the black/white ones have a black or white mom. All have a black dad. So now I have 12 Cochin chicks and one little Serama; come on Seramas!

Hello All! First of all, Thank you SueChick for your generous offer! I think my 3 Jersey eggs may actually still be viable!! I candled last night and there is some movement, so I'll crank up the temp/humidity and see what happens.

Congratulations everybody on their hatches and for the hope of new babies for the New Year!

Being a first time chicken mom is something I've never experienced. At first I thought "What did I get myself into?"......a lot of cheeping and worrying, up all night sleeping next to the brooder feeling sorry for "it" because it's alone. Now with a sore back and shoulders I arrived home to a nice quiet warm chick just following me and sitting staring at me dozing off to sleep. Seems they grow by the day, I could swear "it" is bigger than on Saturday!

One thing I learned is not to use pine shavings....seems his little foot/leg had a reaction...he kept digging at his toe/foot and flipped over on his back twice cheeping wildly! As soon as I scooped out the shavings and wiped down the inside of the box...he's a lot better. No problems with the feet......

Oh and here is a cute story for you. We took the first little fuzz ball out of the bator yesterday and he was very lonely in the brooder. He would go crazy every time I walked away. Well, we had a "hatching sleep over party" last night with my girls, and a neice and nephew. My sleeping spot was right by the brooder to keep the little one happy. It got to the point that I had to place my hand against the mesh on the side. To get him to sssshhhhh!! So I would place my hand there and he would sleep right by the side with his beak poking through to touch my hand. It was very cute but made for a horrible nights sleep for me.

So I am off to take a nap. Hopefully the next wave of chickies will be ready to hatch when I wake up.

Congrats everyone. I am enjoying looking at your pics!!

4crazygirlz, congrats on your babies hatching, I was starting to worry since we hadn't heard much from you. That is a very cute story, you are so dedicated. I had no idea it would be just like when I had my kids. The first night I was up 5 or 6 times checking on them. I call my kids when they get home from school and ask them how the babies are doing, I check on them when I get home from work, when I get up in the mornings and several times during the evening when I'm home. This is exhausting!
