That's awesome Melissa...it seems just like yesterday that you got those eggs...please post a pic of them as I haven't seen a polish baby...are they also called 'top hats'?

I can't wait to be on holidays so I can sit all day with my girls and the babies...

I am waiting for some spare time so i can build a little coop with this dog house that I bought ($50)..it is amazing, pitched shingled roof, insulated, large enough for me to get inside, ventilated...only problem is it is soooo heavy i can't move it myself and it won't fit through my back gate!!!!

My silkies LOVE doghouses! I have converted 3 into chicken coops. They will love it!!

The polish are so cute as babies. They look like they have little pillbox hats on from the 50's.

DW how's your wry neck chick? My peep is 100% recovered. The polyvisol really helped fast. I am amazed!! My older one outside still twitches, I think hers is a neurological injury.

Where did you get the dog house if you don't mind me asking?? I have been looking for something affordable that I could use to turn into a coop, as I am not crafty at all and wouldn't know where to even start building my own from scratch, lol

I think all chicks with "Top Hats" are referred to that way

Have you seen the little premade coops from ebay? I bought one in the beginning but then my precious guy deemed it to to small and gave me the barn coop instead - did I mention how wonderful he is

They are pretty easy to assemble and not to expensive. I'll go find the link for you

My hubs bought one we still have when we bought our first 3 hens but it was $350 and very small, no way I could fit in it, lol

Yea that is similar to the one he bought, not near as expensive though, I think it was so much because it came assembled. I am still curious about the one dwegg was talking about because he said it was big enough for him to get in and sit with them.

I went to Lowe's and got one of those metal buildings. I got one of the Arrow 10x12 thats $500 for $150 because the box was damaged and one of the $298 for $100 because one piece of trim was bent a little. Then I built run in back put in doggy door and made screened panel w/ clear plastic roofing panels that are removable for summer for doors. My Silkies are quite happy. I may add some clear roofing panels to the top this summer. Oh and I insulated using the foam panels and construction adhesive. Still need to add some more venting this summer.
