Yay for pips! I should have known you would be hatching another batch of babies-LOL! I haven't taken any pictures of the pips this time, but I'm charging my camera battery for the new chicks.
I have 13 BBS silkie eggs in the bator.

Today is Hatchday! Yesterday I saw the first pip at 4 pm and a total of 6 pips before I went to bed. This morning 9 eggs have pips!

Just a question: Is this normal for there to be so many pips, but no zipping yet?
hu.gif
I'm getting worried.

Yea these are the ones I set for the Easter hatch, tomorrow is actually hatch day, but in my R-com I always get some early! So glad you have so many pips,

it makes such a difference when you aren't using shipped eggs! And yes it is normal for them to pip and then not zip for a while, you shouldn't start to worry until it's been 24 hours if they don't start zipping and you don't see any movement. I had 2 pips when I went to bed last night, the pips where a little bigger this morning, but no zipping yet, I can't wait to get home!!! I hate when they are hatching and I'm stuck at work!!

i set 2 silkies and one cochin but i only have a silkie rooster and people have said silkie and chocin mixes are beautiful so i thought it was worth a shot it dosnt look like they are fertiltle though but people are saying to wait intill a few weeks to look
Hey there I set 3 of my Cochin x silkie eggs & 3 silkie x Cochin frizzles!! They are due on Thursday! So if/ when they hatch I'll post pictures so you can see. My rooster was white & my Cochin is black & frizzle is buff. Yes wait and see. I find candling my own eggs they are much easier to see at 5 days then shipped eggs .... Much stronger and often at 4 days I can see veining. 5 days you should see something but at a week definitely..... Shipped eggs are an entirely different story! Good luck! Keep us posted.

I'm getting worried.
Are these the local eggs you bought? They will hatch like popcorn once they start! You will see a huge difference between shipped eggs and the local ones! The pips and no action are totally normal.... I'm so jealous mine aren't due until thursday!! Happy hatching post pictures when they hatch!

Yes, these are the local eggs I picked up. OK-I'm glad to hear that this delay is normal. I did notice last week with 5 local EE eggs that they all pipped and then started zipping and were all hatched in about 20 hours. It was the most stress-free hatching experience ever!

I think I'm just more worried about these eggs because they are my special silkies.

I'm hoping for lots of splashes!

Last night I had 6 little pips and they really didn't change at all this morning.............until about 30 minutes ago. Now, there are at least 9 pips and I'm starting to see some multiple dents and big cracks in some of the eggs.

This is the fun part, isn't it!!

Could you set the eggs to hatch on the weekend so you don't miss the hatching part?

Today is day 21 for me and nothing...no pips...no peeping...only one egg rolled yesterday on its own to the egg next to it. I am very worried. They were all good at lock down.

Don't worry I'm sure you'll get some pips towards the end of the day. You'll definitely have to keep us updated ;)
