Anyone hatching Nov. 21?

I candled my mixed eggs the other day and all I see is a dark mass. Most of these eggs have looked really good for me this time on the mixed ones anyway. I wish I had a light that could see through the marans and welsummer eggs but I do know that some of them do feel heavier.

Good luck with your hatch!

Mine are due to hatch on or around the 20th. All I can do now is cross my fingers and wait. I hate the last week!

Oh me too, it just goes so incredibly slow!

I added water to mine today and I will stop turning today (I always do it early). I have a lot of eggs in there and I am real hopeful for this hatch.

I think I will take mine out of the turner tomorrow morning and try to get the humidity up for hatch day.

I candled again this morning (set Nov 1 at 11pm so it's officially day 16).

Main reason I candled is because I wanted to take out an egg that hasn't developed for awhile and wanted to make sure I was taking out the Right egg.

The egg I thought needed to come out wasn't the right one.. so to be safe candled them all and found the right one.

What surprised me was that I again saw movement in at least 3 of the 5 eggs... wow! I hadn't seen that in several day. The movement was easiest to see when the eggs were being candled with the blount side (top with air cell) against the cardboard cutout.

Anyway, after all that excitement I decided to leave the so called 'bad egg' in because it isn't smelling nor weeping... and I'm just plain scared to break it open unless I'm absolutely sure, but maybe I should take it out... any advice? I know day 17 is the last day I can safely candle and that's Tuesday (tomorrow).

I'm hoping for pips to start on Friday.. yikes! this is exciting and scary at the same time, because I just hope they are healthy as it's my first time.

this is my 5th time and each time I still get excited. I count the days down and I get up all hours of the night starting day 18 because I just cant stand it. During 2 of my hatches I had the majority of my eggs hatch on day 19 - they are not banty eggs either.

this is the first set that I have hatched where the eggs were not mail ordered from BYC folks. I have a few of mine and some that I purchased from a local farm family.

I always get excited - everytime and each time I tell mysaelf this will be the last time until spring - - then I start thinking - if I hatch them now I will have eggs right about next spring! so the moral of the story is - hatching I will go!!!

I read about your Cinnamon Queens... wow.. had to look that up! Huge eggs eh? That is exciting to know you are hatching some from that lineage (the family). Not that you need it sounds like.. but Best of luck with your 5th hatch!

alalele, I would not worry about the egg if it isn't smelling at all. I know what you mean, sometimes I get unsure about an egg and just leave it.

Well, of course, the power went out last night at around midnight. So I sat here for that whole hour worrying until it came back on. I wasn't so much worried about the eggs in the incubator or the chicks in the indoor brooder, lol, it was the 4 chicks in the outdoor brooder that bothered me. I knew they were almost all feathered out but it still was a worry. Checked on them this morning though and they all seem fine.

Anyway, one day closer to hatch day

. I don't see any of mine rocking but there are just so many of them in there that maybe they can't rock, lol. On the last three hatches I haven't seen any rocking anyway.

Just pace back and forth, look at the eggs, pace back and forth, check temp, pace back and forth. . . lol.

I took mine out of the turner this morning...day 18... added water, put them in egg cartons, candled a couple, saw movement, quickly got out of there and now the real waiting starts.

Hope at least my broody does a good job if I don't with the incubator.

Just getting some to hatch is only half the battle, ending up with pullets in the breeds I really want is a real challenge!

Hi!

I have 6 Barred Rock eggs due to hatch on Friday the 21st! I also have about 7 EE eggs remaining that are due on Thanksgiving!
