Anyone Hatching on the 27th or 28th? - I Need Hatching Buddies!!

Well, I'm done til next week LOL.

One quit on this batch at about day 15 but there was always something not right with that egg. Five hatched. And the last - due today, pipped but didn't make it.

Eggtopsy revealed one of those over large squashy chicks. That particular chicken seems to throw an egg/chick like that about every other batch, she may end up a cull.

I've one other tag behind who is due between now and the 2nd when the turkeys are due. It's the egg of a chicken I really like so when I was sure it was hers I decided to grab it and hatch it. After all the incubator was already going...

OMG this will never actually end...

Ok, I guess this is all i'm gettin gout of this batch. I'm leaving the other eggs in just in case. The quail are next to hatch. I sure hope I get at least a pair out of them. Here is a better pic of my new babies. They are 24 hours old.

There is a Bantam cochin splash, the black one is mixed breed and the other bigger one is a Blue Orp. There was another BO in the batch but it appears to not be fertile. I had 1 EE in there also but it wasn't fertile either. I just don't seem to be able to get any EE's and that is what i've been trying to get. When my batore is finally empty and cleaned I'm going to try to find a breeder within driving range of me and fill up my bator with them. I think the shipping is scrambling them up.

I did get some real cuties though. The black one is almost like a penquin. He has white on the tips of his wings, a line of white on top of his head and white from under his beak all the way under to his vent. And it is very soft on the white. The rest of his down is black. His what would be ankles are black but toes and legs are orange, tiny white speck behind each eye. Sooooo cute. A little black on the beak too.

Apparently I am.. I just went out and the broody had two silkie/welsummer mixes under her. I stole them from her, because I know the eggs are all about a day apart. I'm thinking the rest of them will be hatching throughout the week..
They're adorable little things. They look like welsummer chicks, but with feather legs!

Will get pics later. I'm just surprised.

10 bbs orps. 9 blue/splah and only 1 black lol. Couldnt be happier. 6 4 6 on my mutts. 1 of 4 on my own bantams and 1 for 6 for the dutch. Not sure what happened with the dutch bantams and my brahma mix bantams the air cells looked great but they never even pipped there membrane. But i am super happy wiht what I did hatch out. 10 out of 12 on shipped eggs is awsome

Congratulations to all of you who have had chickies hatch!

I still don't have any pips. I had an egg explode or break open under my broody hen.

IT SMELLS DISGUSTING in our shed!

She ate about half of it and then I took what was left away. I am hoping it doesn't contaminate the rest of the eggs under her. I am crossing my fingers and hoping to get a pip today!

DouglasPeeps, I had an egg do that under my broody and I don't think it harmed the other eggs. The ones that didn't hatched seemed to be quitters before that happened.

emvickrey, those peeps are so cute! I especially like the middle one--the buff orp I guess?

walkswithdog, I've been trying to get EE's, too and just don't seem to be having much luck.

My status: Another baby out--that makes 2. A lot more pips and some rockers.

Ok, so I went to check on my broody hen again. When I walked in the shed, the smell hit me.

I can't believe that she ate another egg! So STINKY!

There is good news though.... When I picked up the rest of the egg to dispose of it. I HEARD PEEPING! I didn't see any pips, but WOOHOO! PEEPING!
