Anyone Hatching on the 27th or 28th? - I Need Hatching Buddies!!

I was supposed to have Pekin Ducks hatching yesterday, the 27th, but so far I still have no ducklings and no pipping. My 2nd graders and I are becoming very discouraged!!!!!!

Good luck. I just said if I didn't live so far from school that I would take my incubator and let them view little miracles today. Retired but helping with summer camp science this week.

We should have Silkie/Orpington eggs hatching today or tomorrow! The 28th is day 21 for us, and I think I heard some tapping! I candled the eggs and I could see them moving in there! I keep telling my broody hen to tell them to hurry up! Come ON babies!

This hatch has been slow going. I have to admit to being a bit disappointed. Last time I had 25 eggs and on Day 21 at one point, I had several hatching all at once. This time, there's just one maybe 2 at a time and I only have 10 out of 36 so far. I have tons of water in there but I've been having trouble keeping the humidity above 70%. This morning it's 65 and I can't seem to raise it. My temp. fluctuated a lot LESS this whole time though so I was hoping for a better hatch. For the first 18 days, I was able to keep the humidity right around 40% and on Day 18 up to 70%. The last time it seemed to go higher, more around 50% and 80%. I'm wondering if that isn't going to work better...

The weather outside hasn't been as humid though. I may need to put a humidifier in that room during the summer...

I wonder if the humidity is reading right though because the windows are fogged up and the babies aren't drying.

We have three out and pips everywhere!! My almost 4 and 9 year old grandsons are managing the "cracking" as the little one calls it.

They said it is better than a movie. The chicks are being named as they are born, Houdini was the latest.

May I say that I have enjoyed these chickens myself, but this day with them is too awesome for words. We are watching miracles together and loving it.
Digging potatoes, planting "bamatoes" and "cracking" chicks. God is sooo good.
