Anyone hatching this week? I know a little late then not at all. :)

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving and a nice Black Friday. I took the three remaining eggs and candled them, there was one that was possibly viable. I put it in the bator and I am hoping for the best. So if I still see veins does that mean it is viable. I am really not sure what I am looking at.

Okay there is definitely something moving in there and it isn't stuck, so we are going into lockdown.

I am 5 1/2 hours into Day 21 and have two chicks out so far. One of my Ameraucanas hatched earlier this afternoon and then one of my Seramas hatched just a few minutes ago. Both had pipped about 7:00 this morning. Two other Serama eggs have pips and I'm hoping they're just resting for a bit and will start zipping soon.

Sphinx, I've got my fingers crossed for your eggs. I remember reading your story a couple weeks ago about all your hens being killed. I really, really hope you get some chicks hatching soon!

So mama decided to leave the rest of her eggs huh? Gosh darn it. Well hopefully you caught them in time and they'll finish up fine in the incubator.

I knew this might happen because she after she was already sitting on two eggs for a couple days when of my other girls decided she was gonna sneak some of her eggs in. So over the next week she was sneaking in an egg when momma bird got up to eat. I had no idea to look for my EEs eggs because, she had been molting and had just started laying again. After I had them in a few hours I candled them. One egg was no good and the other turned out to be another egg my EE had managed to sneak just days before momma quit sitting so it wasn't really doing anything yet. I threw the yucky one away and gave her back the one that really hadn't started. Egg number three looks like it has a live chick in it.

(At least I think its my first time candling) I put that one back in the bator and got my fingers crossed.

I am hoping if the baby hatches I can sneak take that one egg out and replace it with a baby. I hope I can, I am not sure how well that will go since she really isn't sitting on it anymore. She does sit on it warm she sits on her chicks but, I think she is only doing that because, it is where she wants to sit with her babies.

Good luck with the rest of your babies I am sure they will be zipping in no time.

My first broody hen had a chick this evening hatch out --13 more eggs in the nest to go--we'll see what tommorrow brings. I know to not expect all of them to hatch -my daughter and I candled just a few one night a week and a half ago and saw three that were good then . I decided to leave it up to mother nature.

Can't wait to check her in the morning.
