Anyone have a Good Outcome for a sick Cat?! UPDATE, PIC

I had the exact same thing happen to my cat a few years back. Lethargic, fever, dehydrated. I took him to the vet, they gave him an IV and some antibiotics. He was feeling better within a few hours, they told me I could take him home, and next day he was completely fine

Still have no idea what it was, other than money out of my pocket

Is he overweight at all? Have you noticed a decrease in appetite lately?

He isnt overweight, he is a big boy but not overweight, he was just at the vet a week ago and checked out fine, so we are wondering if he got something there. He has lost his appetite, I'm switching his food today, I have been feeding him Purina but I'm switching to Science diet or Blue, the doc said that his bilirubin was high from not eating and that he showed no other signs like anemia or infection, no swelling or bloat.

Overweight and decreased appetite are scary ... often is liver disease. My Hobbes passed away from liver disease even with forced feeding and appetite stimulating meds

I hope that's not what your kitty has!!! Hope he will be okay!

That is what I was thinking.

If you want to give him a good food, Taste of the Wild--Canyon River. It's all I feed my cats. I feed my dogs Taste of the Wild--Pacific Stream. Remember cats are carnivours, they don't eat grains, unless we people give it to them. They do eat grass from time to time for medicinal reasons.

When my 18 year old was around 2 she got "something" no idea what it was. She wouldn't eat, just laid around, didn't want to go out. Took her to the emergency vet (waste of time and money) my regular vet put her on IV drips for 3 days and did all kinds of tests just like your vet did. NOTHING! They let me take her home that weekend to see if I could get her to eat. Eventually she did, and got better. We still have no idea what happen. She was sick for about a week. She turned 18 in March and is an evil old woman, lol. But we love her

ETA----I have 2 BIG boys as well. The 14 year old is 17lbs, the 2 year old is 12lbs and not filled out completly. The boys are "solid" they fly through my house and over, and under furniture, beds, kitty climbers, etc. Not an ounce of fat on them. My vet told me a longtime back that you have to keep an eye on the big guys for signs of diabetis. So far so good on mine. Positive thoughts, yours will be too!!

So glad to hear this happens, we picked him up from the vet, he was a happy boy and glad to be home had a light snack and went to sleep in our room. He is 10lbs, was 11.2 last week when we were at the vet so he has lost some weight. All of his test came back clear and normal, no out-of-balance liver enzymes or lipids and bilirubin is ok, he is hydrated so it just seems to be a fluke illness much like your ol' woman. He got a shot of steroids, antibiotics and also some oral antibiotics, depleted out emergency pet fund but he is worth it lol So now we wait and see what happens... We are in Guam so we don't have many options for pet foods, much less people food lol so we opted for Science Diet, I wanted to try Blue but they only had it for dogs, and another called Wilderness but again only for dogs

Go with the Blue, SD is crap.

Edited to add, SD veterinary diets are pretty good; the C/D for cats with UT troubles, the heart diet, the bladder stone/struvite diets, etc. BUT - the regular dog food - not so good. Better on the cat food side, but I would still go with Blue for quality of ingredients.
