Well let me tell you quickly his punishment...remember this was back in the day of about 35 years plus.

His mother beat the boy with a swiitch, got even more furious and took a belt to him, Then everyday when the bus came to pick him up for school and every afternoon from the time he got off the bus till dinner...he had to walk in front of his house like a turkey, gobble like a turkey. If anyone asked him what he was doing he had to announce loudly that he was a pet turkey killer and explain how he did it.

Well it took less than a week before everyone in town knew what he had done...it was bad for him. His mother offered me $50 but for Lurch but I did not accept it. I knew she did not have it to spare. she bought me a babywhen they came in to the farm store but it was not Lurch ya know. I mean he was a wild turkey and just strolled up to live with me.

Ok, so I have given up pn Turkeys:-( I'm so afraid it would get out of my yard and something bad happen. Instead, I'm gonna make my silkies area bigger and get more:)

I had one growing up. a wild turkey about a week or so old wandered up to eat with our chickens one day...did not leave. He was like a dog...followed me everywhere. I named him Lurch because of the way he walked behind me.

He was a sweet Wild Eastern turkey and at 4 years old a kid down the road called him away from the house and Lurch followed thinking he was getting a treat or pats...the kid shot him.

But they are awesome...at least he was.

Whoa! A four-year old shot him? Where were the parents?

Okay. Never mind. I read the rest. I don't think that the boy, now man, has or will eat turkey for the rest of his life.
