I've seen alot of turkeys that are too cute and wondering if anyone has a pet turkey. Is so, what kind and how's its temperment??

Well, back in 1977 (I think it was) I had a few Bronze, and it was still very chilly bright sunny day, I was rubbing my hens back and she set down, making a cooing sound.. I squatted down and rubbing her back when the Gobler kicked me in the back...

I started with Bourbon Reds last year, I have 6 hens and 1 Gobler .. They follow me everywhere. So far the Gobler is very gentle. He's struting by me all the time, but I can pet the hens and him somewhat without any aggression....

The only thing about pets is, they want to follow you to the house and then crap all over your porch....

So I"m not sure if they are pets are pests...

But I really enjoy them..

Your giving me hope...I have a pullet (soon to be hen) and a handsome Tom...I swear they hate me. They are afraid of me, will just come unglued if I'm near them.
Breaks my heart as all of these guys are pets

I LOVE having our turkeys...
We have Black Spanish and Blue Slate....

I love them..the neighbors not so much....When they were younger they would walk over to neighbors house and poop on there steps. The neighbors would complain about it and I would go get them. Until one day I noticed the neighbors were calling them over there and feeding them...

Then they would complain because the turkeys would poop on the steps...when I seen them feeding them, I stopped going to get them and stopped apologizing for them being over there..sometimes people don't fall far from the stupid tree...or even if it's a long fall they hit every branch on their way down...

I had one growing up. a wild turkey about a week or so old wandered up to eat with our chickens one day...did not leave. He was like a dog...followed me everywhere. I named him Lurch because of the way he walked behind me.

He was a sweet Wild Eastern turkey and at 4 years old a kid down the road called him away from the house and Lurch followed thinking he was getting a treat or pats...the kid shot him.

But they are awesome...at least he was.

Oh I like looking at all the pretty turkeys:) Are there any that won't fly over my fence? I can see someone out here killing my turkey if it was out side of my yard.
