its great to see the flock round a corner when someone new is over and can't believe they are not locked up

Yeah thats great, the best is when they ask if they bite ?? I tell all the solicitors to enter at their own risk, and have not had one come in the gate yet. The wifes mom is afraid of them when they start strutting and approaching her she freaks out

When we first moved here about 6 months ago we had 35 turkeys running free and all the neighbors stopped and was warning us that the turkeys where out , I answered no they just run free, all the kids came over some with their parents to check them out and they still say I'm crazy ??

You ever have them go by the road, one morning my DH got a call at 6 am while he was at work, the turkeys were out and surrounded a sheriff when he stopped a car in front of the house, they had to call back up to get them off the road, I would have loved to see the cops chasing turkeys away from the road. That bunch moves when it wants to and not a second earlier.

we had one when I was a kid, I think it was a wild eastern turkey. He was pretty mellow except for in the spring when love was in the air and he would chase us down the road. He lived outside all the time and slept in our pole barn. My son wants to get some in the spring but unless he builds the pen himself its not going to happen. Im not building another pen.

i had 2 royal palm jakes and a hen, hen was standoffish, the boys followed me everywhere, one day i let them out of the coop and the biggest one flew clear across the yard and on the roof of my house, i was amazed that he could fly like that being so big

We have two eastern wild turkeys. Their names are Turkey Bird and Louise. We are anxiously waiting for baby poults from them.

I have a blue slate tom, a royal palm tom, and 4 mixed hens. All are breeding stock, so none of those will ever see the table.

I have been wanting to adopt a turkey to add to our family but I dont know anyone that has them as pets here! When I ask what they eat, most people just say "chicken food or whatever you have around". I want to raise them to live as long and as healthy as possible so I would love to know what they *should* eat.

Should they be in at least a pair?
