Anyone have em' go broody?

Has anyone had their Barred Plymouth rocks (Not Heritage just from a hatchery) or Salmon Faverolles go broody? I know they go broody seldom, but has it ever happened to you?
I sure hope some of mine go broody!

I got six hatchery barred rock, and six red pullets from Agway 2 yrs ago....and none of them have gone broody yet. The Silkie I bought from a local swap meet last fall, has gone broody twice.

Yeah, Silkies go broody a lot. Tell me if your Barred rocks ever go broody.

I have 2 Salmon Faveroles from Cackle Hatchery who go broody every year, but I have to leave 12-15 eggs in the nest for about 2 weeks so they get broody.

Okay, so they wouldn't go broody on their own?

No, they will not. With dual purpouse birds is like that- you have flock of 10-15 hens and only few will go broody on their own. Cochins, Silkies and some bantams are more famows of going broody.

My Salmon Faverolle went broody on her own. She sat stubbornly on her one unfertilized egg so I got her a few fertilized ones to hatch and she is a wonderful mother. She has even adopted several batches of chicks we pick up at the feed store while raising her own with no questions asked!

Wow! Well that is good to know. Is she LF or Bantam?
