Thx for posting. Will show this to DH if he wants to try this food bait in our trap which has been successful so far. He's been using cheese cubelets &/or packaged creamy cheese-filled cheese crackers as bait. Adding bacon or tallow sounds like a good idea too. Kaput sounds like too long to wait for results IMO plus I wouldn't want a chicken to inadvertently ingest any of a rodent's dangerous Kaput droppings around the yard! So, in 35 years of living on our property, I've never seen a rat. Until yesterday...Of course our phones are always listening,
, so I get a suggestion for a video on how to kill said rodents
, before I even had a chance to search. I think I'm going to try it. Along with my son's bucket trap.
For all those frustrated with those nasty creatures, this might just work. This video came out 5 days ago.
Bucket traps work VERY well for mice. You're going to need something bigger for rats....like a 30+ gallon trash can. Like Sylvester said, keeping poison away from your ladies (including any dead bodies) is also important. FWIW, if you can find their den area, block all the exits and pack some dry ice into it. That will kill them without poison. So, in 35 years of living on our property, I've never seen a rat. Until yesterday...Of course our phones are always listening,

Wow! They sure love your pumpkins! None of our chickens ever went for pumpkins... however crisp-cooked buttered zucchini slices or well-cooked white sweet potato well-buttered has been a delicacy here. Zucchini plant leaves get enormous so I'm thinking a different type of squash as a trial next year. As huge as tomato plants get, tomatoes are still more manageable than huge zucchini leaves.

Of course, the leaves are great for hiding... my BYC avatar "Taffy"

How do you manage not to squish when sitting down in these? Or is it a new way of saucing them?I had the thin out my tomatopants this year a couple of time!
