Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

I mak a veggie stew with big chunks of beef shoulder or what ever beef is on sale that week.
But I don't really have a recipe..I just throw a whole bunch of stuff in a pot after I boil the heck out of the meat.

I need a real recipe.

LOL, are you becoming an egg hatching fool too? Of the breeds I have listed (except the Dark Cornish) what would you like come spring?

The stew? The bread? Or the not triggering Smurvie? Lol.

If there is a recipe out there to keep from triggering Smurvie, make sure we get it to her DH... he'd pay a TON of dollahs for that recipe!!!

I normally cook with spices and seasonings...so I am thinking that one or more of these should go in this veggie stuff I make but I never (I make this maybe once a year) add any cause I'm not sure what should go in it.

Am I missing something?

Mine is super simple.

I use the tougher cuts of meat cause they tend to be cheaper.

1 large crock pot
About a pound of beef cut into 1" chunks and browned
Dump into crock pot (lol that's for @theuglychick )
Add enough water to cover beef by 2 inches
Add 5 beef flavor bullion cubes
Cook on high for 6 hours
Add one medium onion cut into large chunks
Add sliced or mini carrots, and corn (corn is optional) as much or as little as you like.

Cook on high 30 minutes then add peeled cut up taters, again as much or as little as you like.
Cook til taters are tender.

I pull the liquid to a sauce pot and bring to a brisk boil then thicken with corn starch.

Salt and pepper to taste.

Simple, easy and tasty.

Yup not a real recipe either. :hmm

@Smuvers Farm I'll tag you when I post in the BST area for eggs. I know you said you want all the chickens... but would there be any breeds/mixes you want more than the others?

I'd really have to look at the different breeds to decide. I know I'm gonna get a black sumatra roo come spring.... thems purdy!

Ok thanks..
I see you don't use any seasoning either.
So maybe I'm not doing it wrong.
(salt and pepper are a given..they don't count)
