Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Pics
I have another question. It seems that everything I read says a rooster needs 6-10 hens, but people sell pairs and trios that are confined together. So, which is it? 1-2 or 6-10?
It is 6-10. If you go to a show, they show them in pairs & trios, but those are just the nicest birds from that flock. If I were to get just a pair, I would add some other hens, maybe some sex-links with a different color egg, so you could separate them easily. Otherwise, your nice hens could be injured by the male's exclusive attention!

It was so bad!

I could do nothing to stop it!

One would distract me while two others would slip in like little bantam ninjas and fertilize my Cream Legbars with their little bantam seed!

Every time it would happen a little piece of me would die inside.

I lost a lot of things that day... my purebred Cream Legbar eggs for the next couple of weeks, my respect for my Legbar hens, and my respect for Reggie my Legbar rooster. He let it happen!
Now the mental image is even more graphic! LOL

Updates!

No Mrs. Squatch / Chicken-of-the-Woods yet.

It's been raining here, so I haven't been out to look in a day or so as it's pretty wet and nasty here.

I also haven't checked the cam since Sunday due to the weather. It's raining today so I don't expect much activity. When it dries up I'm going to reposition the cam to capture inside the wooded area where I heard the squawking and flapping. Right now is facing the clearing where food is offered where Mr. Squatch first made his appearance.

Traps remain untouched.

I'm going to give it 2- 2.5 more weeks. That'll have been enough time for biddies to hatch.

ok, @theuglychick has kept us in suspense this morning... Where's our squatch update?:caf:pop
