Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

So, I went to my friends house to pick up a former hen. All her hens ran off except the 3 that knew me (my 3). I picked one out and brought her home. Poor Sesame is still so scared. They bumped chests and Sesame ran off hiding. She is still so scared! I swear she has PTSD! So, I am taking the other sister back and hopefully Sesame will take to the 16 bantams when they get older.

She is watching her sister as I let her out of the crate.

Here are my buff brahmas. We caught a little sun on this windy day before going back for a mid morning nap.

:lau That's funny!

This reminds me of a funny story.

Back in 2004 or 2005ish, a coworker and I had to work at an event Houston, Tx. It was a dog event, so naturally, we had dogs with us.

We could smell that one of the two dogs with us (crated in the back part of an SUV) desperately needed to potty so we stopped and waited (and waited and waited and waited) for them to go and nothing ever happened so we figured false alarm.

So we loaded back up and proceeded to cross the atchafalaya basin bridge. The third longest bridge in the US.

And as you would expect, the 130# Cane Corso gave up the good fight and unleashed the smelly turd demon he had been wrestling with the entire time right in the crate while crossing the bridge. I think he only weighed 120# after that.

Luckily there are stops along the way so we didn't have to ride in the breath-stealing stench for the whole 18 or so miles, but we did ride for about 10 minutes or so, maybe a little longer, with the windows down, steadily gagging and dry heaving.

I guess it could have been worse. It could have been the causeway bridge!
Ok, I wasn't sure if you did it so they didn't have too much time in the evening w/o being able to go outside. I like the oatmeal idea. I'll have to give that a try.

This is part of my DD and our grumpy grey uniting under a common love for destruction and messes.

He seems to really like to be near her and will watch her play for hours.

Noticing the chew marks on the chair rung! Tile flooring, grrreat! I am installing vinyl flooring in the main cage area! Loves to destroy, I give her chunks of 2x4 and plain wooden blocks. Along with all empty toilet paper rolls and cheap rattan baskets from the thrift store. They are happiest when making mulch -- out of your furniture!

Oh and coffee. I have yet to find a loyal brand. I am a new coffee drinker, really more of a latte (half coffee/half milk and creamer). Those flavored creamers are so darn good! And the sugar free ones are okay, but not like the regular. Since I am cutting carbs and calories, I cannot make the perfect blend no matter how hard I try :(

Lol, yea, that happened when we first got him on a day that he let himself out of his temp cage while we were waiting for his regular cage to come in.

Fortunately that's the only damage we've sustained... so far!

I buy the cheap Jenga style game (Tumblung Tower or something like that) at the dollar general store and while DD stacks the blocks, he unstacks and shreds! Everyone is happy!

The baskets are a GREAT idea!

Bird toys are outrageously over priced! I get plain baskets, no paint, varnish glitter, etc for 50 cents - $1.00 on sale. At garage sales, when I tell the people what I want them for, lots of times they just give them to me for free! I get the unpainted blocks from Amazon:://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2J7JA1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8
A little high, 50 for $12.00, but she loves them!
