Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Good suggestion. I've been checking out there regularly.

@theuglychick I had some thoughts yesterday. Do you think that Mr. and Mrs. Squatch came from he same place?? If so, they would have most likely roosted together...? So either she, got ________ that same day or started setting that same day. Hmm... Have you searched for a nest in the same area as Mr. Squatch was roosting? Just my 2 cents. ​

Update: I checked the cams and I didn't have it set right the last few days

I've reset it... made sure it's working right, and have food out in front.

If I don't see anything this week, I guess we will call it.

But we can still all hang out here.

Sorry for not replying!

My weekends get kind of busy.

I think it happens because I live near all of my family and they all drop in and out throughout the weekend.

That and I do all my "projects " on the weekend.

Anywho... I'm catching up right now!

This has been such a fun thread to read. Both DH and my dog Ginger thought I had lost my mind as I have laughed so hard I cried at times! I am a new chicken mom with 6 Egger pullets that should start laying soon. I named them after first ladies. Mary, Dollie, Martha, Jackie, Hillary, and Eleanor (she is the top bird)

Funny Story

This morning, my FIL and I finished putting numbered bands on all the full grown chickens and I decided to move the bachelor pad away from the main flock in favor of moving my breeding group into the 8'x10' PVC run that the roosters were in. This way, the hens will re-integrate better when I'm done getting eggs from them. Well, because of how several of the roosters reacted to being handled, I made some decisions on who belongs on the cull list. I was talking to my husband about my cull list choices and saying I wanted to get a straight run of 5 colored egg layers and 5 dark egg layers and some buffs from a different line. He told me "You are the crazy chicken lady version of those husbands whose answer to 'How many more guns do you need?' is 'One more!' Except you say 'Just 5 more!'"

The lady did have silkies and cochins, so that makes sense.
