Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

There's a librarian member on here who's started a thread. She has a patron ( adult) with limited reading skills and is looking for suggestions on books about raising chickens that are easy to read and understand.
Any suggestions?

Ok. What the heck?
One of my welsummers just laid an egg with PURPLE speckles!
Is she ok? She seems fine!
But her eggs usually have BROWN freckles!

I can't speak to chicken speckles, but my turkeys' speckles are occasionally purple and mostly brown.

She is fine. She has a creative paint department.

I find purple freckles from time to time too.

So, I went back to the sweet lady I got my Bantam Cochins from and the stray Silkie. I picked out 3 more Cochins, only to realize later that one didn’t have feathers on her feet. So, I messaged with a picture and asked if she could be mixed. Not at all, it is one of her Crele Orphingtons. After reading about them it seems they are rare. I did hear her mention she was lucky to get a cockerel and pullet when she ordered them and they have had babies.

Thought I would let you all know that my son made the very difficult decision to let Vinnie go last night.

It was the hardest decision he has had to make.

Needless to say we are a total mess here today.
No comments needed I just thought I should mention it before someone asks how he is doing. He was very weak and it was clear he was hurting.

Are all your little Cochin's the same color or did she have a mix?

I am more OK with things this afternoon. He is not hurting anymore.
Mostly I am sad for my son.

Really it will be ok.
