Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

I am still sad for you.
I told her she was welcome to have it back, so I don’t know. The Cochins are mixed, but no black. I did pick up a white one today that seems to be a cockerel, and he is putting the Brahmas in their place (thank goodness). He is so sweet to me and those Brahmas just squawk, peck at me and freak out. And I picked up a gray/white mix. I will try to post pics tomorrow. These are the 4 I already have.

Oh my goodness so cute!
I am very fond of my itty bitty beasty broody black one.
Your white backed one will be quite a looker!
I would be tempted to snuggle them too.

Thought I would let you all know that my son made the very difficult decision to let Vinnie go last night.

It was the hardest decision he has had to make.

Needless to say we are a total mess here today.
No comments needed I just thought I should mention it before someone asks how he is doing. He was very weak and it was clear he was hurting.
So sorry! You and your family are in my thoughts!

Nice! Adding to my apple repertoire.:drool
Never made apple salsa before. Care to share a recipe?
I've never made it!
But it cracked me up when you were talking about all ways you've tried to use up your fruit. Suddenly the scene from Forest Gump started playing in my heard about the many ways to make shrimp.....
And I had a thought could you make a crunchy salsa with apples?!?

Like a chutney but not cooked? So I started looking.

Allrecipes.com is a go-to for me and sure enough there were lots of apple salsa recipes on there!

I've never tasted apple salsa but I'd be willing to.

There's a librarian member on here who's started a thread. She has a patron ( adult) with limited reading skills and is looking for suggestions on books about raising chickens that are easy to read and understand.
Any suggestions?
Edited as usual for grammar and/or spelling. :barnie
It probably sounds condescending, but I always go for the children's books. Also great if you have to do a research paper. They get all the info out there w/o any of the bs filler that they stuff into adult books. Now I'm excited to go find another library person!

Sounds interesting. I imagine it has a lot of lemon or something to keep the apples from browning. My mom used to make this stuff called Apple Brown Betty. Not sure where the recipe came from, but it was hand written inside one of her cookbooks. She always made it in a corningware bowl and it a only a top crust. Apples were layer w/ cinnamon sugar and butter. Obviously, as a child it was amazing b/c it was 90% sugar. Haven't been able to find an actual recipe for it and I doubt she'd remember how to make it at this point. Last year she asked me if I ever met her sister... I'm 36, I'm pretty sure I met my aunt who lives in the same county at some point in my life. smh.
