Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Next time I think I'm going to leave out the fake meat, and just make them super cheesy and jalapeno-y. The meat part was a little too--meaty?--I dunno, for me I think they would be better with just cheese, kinda like a sauerkrauty version of jalapeno popper balls. I really loved em though, they could become an addiction. I think you could basically fry up anything mixed with cream cheese and it would be totally unhealthy and delicious <running to go nuke a ball now!>
That recipe is totally open to interpretation. So if you want it meatless then go for it. Whatever flips your skirt! Like you said anything deep fried with cheese will be awesome

Thanks for clearing that up.

Someone is coming to buy Lemondrop Saturday! Until then he will be in a portable dog carrier during the day. He has it out for that poor Crele, and it just ain’t fair. My life would be about gosh darn perfect if everyone would do and act like I want them too. Like, don’t pick on each other, don’t potty in the house, don’t act dumb, listen and obey the first time told. I mean, really! That isn’t asking for too much.
That's exactly how I feel about Odin and sometimes Willie. Sometimes I think about how nice and calm my coop would be w/o those stupid boys in there causing trouble. I'm considering letting Odin out w/ the girls for the winter since I don't plan on free ranging much while it's snowing, but then I don't think it's a good idea to do that b/c my daughter wouldn't be able to go into the coop alone. Oddly enough last night I was filling Odin's water container and Willie ran right into the cage! I grabbed him and pulled him out and he ran back in. smh. I did get him out but one of the puffies (eggers) tried to go in too.

Well here are some more pictures of my new birdies. I can't get them all to stay still at the same time.

However, it seems that the long car trip and new environment didn't bother the girls too much. Look what I found today. Unfortunately, it will be feeding my parents' dogs. I found out when I picked the birds up that the breeders use Frontline on the birds to keep them mite free. According to my research, it takes 8 weeks for the bulk of the chemical to leave their system and I don't want that in the eggs that I'm hatching for meat. The stuff in carcinogenic and even traditional CAFOs aren't allowed to use it. Honestly, if I had heard this tidbit and did my research before I got them, I wouldn't have bought them. But, I have them, they are beautiful and I'm going to work with what I got.

Oh my gasp, that is a beautiful boy! & I've never heard of using frontline on a bird. at least they told you, but it would have been nice to know that sooner. We used it on a cat once and it did some bad stuff to him. Completely changed his personality.

I will do anything before that. I met/read about too many people it doesn't help. I do wear the darn braces to bed when it starts flaring.

The biggest help for me has really been SHOES.
I threw away the custom made insoles and now wear sketchers "go walk" line.
They come in men's and women's. There have been 5 generations of them but Only certain ones work for me so if you're interested pm me and I'll tell you what to look for.

Also when I first get up in the morning ( don't even hobble to the bathroom in bare feet!) and when bebopping around the house I wear "OOFOS recovery" flip flops. The have a very high arch and do wonders! When you try them on in the store they feel weird. In one half day of wearing them , I promise they'll be broken in and bring you blessed relief.
I just checked their website and it appears they've branched into some other "recovery footwear" that aren't flip flops !
I will definitely be researching them!

X2 sister, I had foot surgery in August for hallux limitus (big toe arthritis). Went barefoot and flipflops my whole life. Now I am a freak about my dorky orthopedic shoes. But they work.

I found this line called Alegria (online)which makes wonderful orthopedic sandals (and other shoes, boots, etc.) for a variety of foot issues. They are stylish, look better than Birkenstocks, and make my feet feel wonderful. They're expensive, but they always have sales going. I bought two pairs and are in love with them!!

I like salmon loaf. You take a can of salmon, couple drops of liquid smoke to taste, pkg of cream cheese, mix all then roll it in chopped nuts. (Walnuts are a fave here) It makes a log. Put on a plate with crackers and knife, serve. Super easy, very tasty!
