Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

I feel the vortex shifting...... I do believe the chicken vortex is heading to AZ....Prescott to be precise!

There is a distinct vacuum that direction.

I need to nail my birds to the floor lest they end up drawn to AZ.

She has the chicken math completely down... and, since she has NO chickens... she is like 10,001 in the negative for chickens!!!

Some do say mysterious things happen in Prescott, and the old mining towns around here, like Jerome. They have the Haunted Hamburger in Jerome, and a great abandoned mine.
Only Desertchicks NN's are being drawn to Prescott by crazy vibes emanating from this keyboard!

BYC is the reason I want the PIC to read better. That way, we can go outside and I can work on the chicken area while he refreshes the site and reads everyone's posts to me!







This thread was brought up in another thread started by someone in the FEEDBACK section. Unfortunately, I feel someone decidedly attacked myself and @granny hatchet personally, and then tried to wrap it up as a *things have their place and this is NOT the place to be socializin*. Whatever. I sent the owner of THIS POST, @theuglychick , a PM to make sure we, as a whole, hadn't jacked her thread. As she is wonderfully nice, she was completely on board with us using this thread to chit chat and cluck. This is what lead to the changing of this threads title, so others wouldn't bitch about having to wade through our blathering just to find out about the Squatchs.



You are a goober, but totally right. In my own personal experiences, when I see newbies post, they either joined to be SOCIAL (90% of the joiners), or posting because of an emergency.... who get an answer and then won't post again. I joined because I liked the socializing... and I joined so I could reply and be a smart ass.....

This is probably the first group of people I have been a part of online, where I really feel like we could all go out to dinner, have a few drinks, talk chickens/family/goals, and everyone would have a good time! No one taking a billion pics to post on FB or Instagram..... and we'd hug instead of shake hands.....

OK that's it!!! Meet up at Bob's place for Valentines Day!!!

Ha Ha Ha I meant cannabis. After several family memebers came down with serious cancer I started doing some research. I've seen it used in animals...they aren't high.

My bf had her dog on CBD oil for the last couple years of his life. DRASTICALLY improved his (& everyone else's) quality of life. He was much less Mr cranky pants fun police since he was in much less pain & could be more active.
Her brothers tried to take the cannibis oil to get high but got nothing from it. Serves em right for takkng medicine from an old sick dog!

Instead of cleaning, just throw in some corn, throw new straw on top. They have radar for corn, they will tunnel down and mix everything to get the last kernel! Instant mixed compost.

Right now it's a bit damp in there b/c it's been raining almost constantly for the past several days. Wet chickens come in and shake the water all over. Will that be an issue?

I’m back. I have been remodeling the inside of the coop and I did not finish! I am too busy tomorrow to fool with it and poor Sesame is having to sleep in the dog carrier and the chicks have free range. I don’t know what the crap I am going to do when I get new chicks!!!!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's working on coop stuff now. I spent the evening crawling around in chicken poop to get a box built for my cockerel so he'll have a little more sheltered space, plus block the wind coming from the south west across the field. I have to finish it off this weekend once the rain stops. I'm never done with this thing... I still need to deal with the poop board so I can use the pdz stuff. No one ever tells you that your coop is never done.

Looks like things got weird over there and it needed some clean up done.
not sure why the stay on topic thing came up. Most threads that don't involve injury, illness or predation end up pretty random.

I guess we are still under the radar so all is OK. At least here.

I do think her catching and housing the birds is pretty darn decent.

There was a thread about it a few days ago.
And it sounded as though some people didn't approve of us (our title came up) I got the impression about chatting forever and being off topic and how to keep a thread on topic. And there was a poster or two who, I got the impression felt we should move our conversation to another place. They way I felt after reading --? was that some people thought it would give the site a bad name maybe???? I don't know because I'm still new. I joined in Jan but didn't participate. Just read.
And I've never been active on a forum before except a long time ago on a Disney one . I don't know the "who's who".

Well that explains it. I just unfollowed that thread. There was another one I unfollowed too. I get people wanting to stay 'on topic' but the situation was resolved & the op was participating in the convo. What ticks me off the most is that the people who complained the most about going off topic were taking it off topic themselves. Absolutely ridiculous, I guess 'the rules' only apply to some. Plus, if something came up, then someone who comes along later revisited it they'd get their panties in a bunch b/c they were done with it. SMH. IMO if an OP has a problem with the topic going off, esp after things are resolved then they are fully capable of saying something. I went back and looked to see if my 'off topic' comments were deleted and they weren't.. so IDK what they meant by 'tidy now'. And then they started attacking people b/c they didn't read through 500+ messages & offered a suggestion for catching the chickens. Sorry they didn't want to look at your 'off topic' photos of your chickens eating a pumpkin to find out about the 'on topic' chickens that the post was about and made the mistake of assuming the chickens were still on the loose. In fact, I have yet to see one person on THIS post attack a single person who pops in to offer a suggestion on catching the elusive chicken, or asking what's new with it so apparently it's not that hard to be kind and civil for some of us.

I think we all know that if we all got together to do something chickeny we'd all have different ideas of what to do, & wouldn't be able to decided on anything. Then end up sitting around drinking wine and eating while we ooo'd and awe'd over each others chickens.

Lol! I am one who got fed up with poor management at my job (job was building things).
Now I find after 20+ years building stuff for others I am a bit lost..... Soooooo I can follow instructions, design requirements AND build stuff......
Can I still head south even if I don't drink wine and just build stuff instead???
