Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

My favorite place to buy chicks makes their own feed. If they were closer I would always use it. It is plain brown bagged. Looks generic in packaging but I never lose chicks when using that feed.

I store in buckets with gamma lids. LOVE my gamma lids.

Oh and a gratuitous pic of my cookie balls!

BALLZ BALLZ BALLZ BALLZ BALLZ!!!

I have it in a metal trash can and I have Sevin Dust sprinkled around the outside of it. I think they must have come in the food???

If it's the bugs I used find in wild bird seed they will turn into little tiny moths. They somehow sneak in during packaging. I'd return the feed with a baggie of bugs.

Sorry about the auction! That is so frustrating!

I voted!

I like fried and smoked turkery, but I am not really a turkey fan. I have it 1-2x/yr.

Making headway with the run. It is not perfect, but whatever. I think we should get a break in the rain tomorrow and I hope I can get it complete enough to put Sesame in there.

You know.... I've never had a chicken complain if it wasn't pretty.

If it doesn't rain here tomorrow, the PIC and I are going to rake leaves and put them in the chicken run and into the quarantine area for the Brat Pack.

Throw out some shelled corn before you add the leaves. The girls will do wonderful things for you.:D

I found bugs in my feed today!!!! Not happy since TSC is 15 miles away. I guess I should see what the Co-op sells, it is closer. When I chick starter last year it looked generic, if that matters.

Bugs in feed =Extra protein. They might want to charge you more.:lau I get flour bugs on the outside of my feed bags and the girls go nuts over them.

The new run will be on backside, so at least my husband’s pretty run will be on the front side!

That is what I thought initially, but I read they deplete all the nutrients out of the food.?.?.?.

We keep our feed in totes with snap lids. Me and mice don't get along.

My girls consider mice as extra protein. You can measure their lifespan in pasture in nano seconds.

Love my gamma lids... But store feed in 55 gallon drums with o2 obsorbers.

Probably did. Have you ever been inside a feed mill? It's amazing how they store the raw products. And not in a good way. That said, my girls think bugs in their feed is an extra goodie.:yesss:
