I had it when I was little. They thought I had poison sumac all over my body until they realized that it was my scratching that made the rash. Even w/ my daughter we didn't get a name until we saw an allergist. Not a single dr or nurse in her pediatrician's office had heard of it. She was a poke and prodded for months. They did testing and decided she was having reactions to a bunch of foods and had stomach problems so we had to do a very restrictive diet where she couldn't eat anything on her allergy list, plus a low acid diet. Her allergy list included milk, soy, chicken, & a bunch of fruits and vegs. It was horrible. After her scope showed her stomach didn't have any ulcers she was able to go off the low acid diet, but she was still really restricted. Eventually we just said forget it and now she eats whatever she wants. She has claritin & pepcid to control her issues now. But she has the saddest story... when she started complaining about her stomach hurting years ago we went to see a gastro who said she was constipated & needed to eat more fiber and passed her issues off as IBS.. then she calls me from school b/c her stomach hurts so bad. I take her to the dr and they prescribe her zantac. She took 1 pill and for the first time in YEARS her stomach didn't hurt. It had been hurting constantly to the point that she didn't know your stomach would hurt when you were hungry. She had no idea. Now she takes the meds as needed & that jerkface dr doesn't work in that office anymore. I felt horrible b/c I just did what the idiot dr said. Her new gastro is amazing and really nice and didn't act like she was wasting his time.I don't think I had THIS exactly, when I was younger... but whenever I scratched, it would leave the red scratch marks for hours... but it wouldn't welt up. Is your kiddo on AIP?
