Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

I'm not fussed about the teasing, y'all are good people. Yes, I am around, just relatively quiet because my poultry niche is more unusual, so I don't have similar experiences for chiming in on a lot of stuff. When things are similar enough, I toss my 2 pence in for consideration. Same goes with the cooking and whatnot. I actually do take the time to read each post, no matter how many pages have accrued since my last visit. Today was 18 pages, lol, but well worth it. I'm learning something from y'all every day.
:hugs

Good morning, Squatchers! :frow I take a day off, read a couple books, come back, and there are 13 pages to catch up on!! Jeez Louise!! schvetty crap balls!

My chickens water froze for the first time. It's getting COLD here in the dirty Jersey. First hard frost, and all 14 are still alive and pecking.

Got some catching up to do!:caf

You don't get to read books anymore... this thread... WE ARE YOUR LIBRARY NOW!!!

Morning mash:
Yup me too.
I fill a small dog bowl halfway with pellets throw some warm water on there and let it "cook" while I make coffee.
You mean your chicken food? That is pure, sheer genius. Do they gobble it up?

I made oatmeal for mine the other day and they loved it. As I brought it out, I thought: This is it. I really am a Crazy Chicken Lady. I mean, I barely cook for my husband or myself, and I am making oatmeal for my chickens?!!

@Molpet and others who do cattle panel coops.... my local *girl in the know* at TSC hinted that the cattle panels will be ON SALE at TSC for Black Friday.

Inside info!!! Love it!!

We just got our TSC last month.

@Anansi I think your birds have it pretty good. Cool how these stray chickens seem to find folks that will take good care of them.

@Smuvers Farm Glad to hear your new ones are doing so much better.
Your handy panels are a good size for growing pole beans, peas, cucumbers and probably several other climbers on. Or even an A frame tractor. I may have to seek some out.

@Sassysouth The app made me laugh. True first world problems.
I hope your doggie feels better soon. Sometimes my old guys lay on a leg weird and get up all gimpy. Sometimes limping for a full day. I guess what I am saying is not all limps need a vet trip. I hope Maddie just slept funny.

Coop cleaning day for me.
Egg production is better then last year with all the pullets I have now.
Of course cleaning the coop means also putting up with the inspectors making many trips in to check my work. :lau
