Anyone have picky egg eaters in their house that only eat store eggs?

She does know that ALL eggs come from a chicken's rear, right?

I have no tolerance for stupidity, really. Your 13 yr old is excused...she's a teen, LOL. My own DIL will only eat white eggs, even when I say they are just white because of the breed of chicken. Dont even get me started on this subject.

uh huh exactly.

In answer to the original question...no everyone in my house is much smarter than that. if they bought eggs and brought them here I would cook em up and feed them to the girls or throw them at the fool who purchased them.

Glad that is your DIL and not mine hahaha I would toss her butt out of my house and tell her to return when she grew a brain cell and an ounce of compassion with a shot a reality.

I am a meanie I guess but I just have no patience or tolerance for stupidity any longer. I really do not want someone that stupid around me. I say stupid because...uneducated and uninformed means they have never been told the facts etc etc. These people have been told therefore they go straight to the stupid category in my book.

Well, no, he didn't actually. My mom is obsessed with keeping my dad alive (he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer two years ago) and she came across the diet herself, and added in the coconut oil etc. My dad does have a naturopathic oncologist who is very supportive though.

I just realized i never contributed to the thread topic... WHOOPS!

My brother in law REFUSES to eat organic or back yard eggs... not because they taste "different" or because they're strange colors.. but because the SHELLS ARE HARDER TO CRACK. He eats non-organic store bought eggs, 6 a day.... sheesh.

tell him that anybody who eats that much could use the extra exercise it takes to crack those eggs..

I have been collecting good homegrown eggs for maybe 6 months. I still have trouble eating them, even though they are obviously more healthful and of better quality than those from the grocery store. It is quite obvious to me that this is a matter of habit and familiarity; I had been eating store bought eggs for about 40 years. Point is, I am not silly enough to blame this difficulty on anything other than my own prejudice/habit!

I skimmed back through this thread. I am going to assume your husband gets it, though the thread does not make that clear, unless I missed something.

Seems to me your problem is not about eggs but about in-laws.

I don't know what the solution is, but I do feel you need to identify the real problem before you can fix it....

That is only a valid argument when you are over age 85

I have to agree. Maybe try making an egg cracker for him. You should offer to make some eggs for him using the organic eggs and see what he says. Might find out if it was the shells or if he just doesn't want the organic eggs.

Man alive i love bacon! I've toyed with vegetarianism briefly, but i believe too much in a natural order and i don't want to mess with that. I was made an omnivore and i think i'd like to stay that way... so as a compromise we buy our beef and broilers from a local ranch who raises their cattle and poultry on pasture in the hills... it's pretty expensive comparatively (i share cost with my parents), but the meat is better for you, tastes like real meat and doesn't come with a nice steaming side plate of guilt

P.S. I hear pasture raised beef is higher in something called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) than their mass produced soy fed counterparts, and thats the stuff that helps people lose weight, and even shrinks cancer cells.

I really wish I knew someplace local that I trusted... When I lived at home my dad and his friends would pool their money and buy beef, pork, and chicken from an extremely small farm. The quality of the meat was amazing! Also, once a year my dad would go hunting and get either deer or elk. He'd only get one, and I'd last a long time. I didn't even realize how lucky I was until I moved out, and stood in a grocery store staring at the packages... Icky. I totally believe that pasture raised beef is better for you. It just makes sense!

He's a total organic health nut, he's the kind of guy who seasons his popcorn with yeast, plus he was raised on a farm in Missouri, so i don't think it's the inside of the egg that bothers him. He's just one funny, illogical guy.

There's a website: eatwild.com has a list of farmers who sell pasture raised meat in different states, plus some farmers who ship. It's a good place to start looking.

I hadn't even tried online (some days I'm not sure I possess a brain) and I just found a farm only twenty minutes from my house! They sell both meat and eggs. As soon as this snow clears up I'm heading out there! You're awesome for showing me that site!
